tyson just got attacked :(

had tyson and tara of the lead just there as i always do but tyson approached another staff wanting to play on the other side of the fence over the park the other dog i know whos it is and the owner was running down the path so i thought all was well but the dog managed to get under the fence and started sniffing tara tyson still wanting to play was tryin to get in on it lol but the other staff snapped at him so tyson being a big scardey started running back home with the other staff following him they ran past the other owner and started rumbling in the grass, meanwhile im getting wee tara on the lead and running back up, and the other dogs getting tore in about tyson the owners trying to seperate them but aint happening, i grabbed tyson by the harness n pulled him back, seeing red on his face made me panic, they guy grabbed his and wee tara started barkin at him lol... this is the 1st hes ever been involved in a "fight" and its not nice and dont understand why people puposely fight dogs.... hes got a few puncture wounds on his cheek and near his ear,

Hi. Try dabbing on some sudocrem, this will aid with healing and prevent itching. It always looks worse than it is.

my god poor tyson must ahve been petrified and as for tara seeing it she must have wondered what was going on. sorry poor you too but your ok you understand the dogs dont. poor tyson wouldnt have known what he's done wrong hope it doesnt have any effect on his behaviour in the future. his poor face

Keep an eye on the puncture wounds - they very easily get infected cause the entry point is so small, it closes over before dirt etc can be got out. If you see any swelling, get some anti-bs from the vet.

Oh dear yeah its not nice when you see dogs fighting properly, but looks like little damage was actually done and am sure he will recover very fast.

Just do as you are use sudocreme on it an keep an eye on it to make sure it dont get infected.

***UPDATE*** thanks for everyones concerns yes it has been quite scary, he was fine lastight but he sleeps in beside us and he kept smelling the blood on the sheets from his face this kept us up most of the nite as the old staffy sniff is like a snore lol, took them over the park this morning tyson seemed a bit frightened and just kept looking at me as if to say "efff that" lol he got to just by where it happened and started to head back home which is a kind of bummer as ive been training him to walk beside me and he was doing good, tara on the other hand (who ive only had since friday) didnt bother with other dogs and was actualy quite scared of others has been barking at others that growl or bark at her or tyson kind of protecting him??? tyson and tara are getting along great and alot calmer in the house but im praying this wee incident dosn't effect there behaviour

Poor things.
Hopefully as the days pass, you'll be able to get back to some sort of normal rourine again and Tyson can relax more as each day passes. Hopefull yhtere will be no long lasting effects on his behaviour in certain situations.

glad he's on the mend and i am sure with your love and support they will both get back to normal on the park it'll take a few days but with persistance you will manage it. poor thing hope you all get a better nights sleep tonight

Hope he is better and it hasn't scarred either him or Tara mentally. Hopefully they will forget what has happened in the next few days!

am fine thanks. hes still eating etc fine, but hes got what i can only describe as a sack/pouch under his cheek i dont know if its just swelling from the wound but its soft hes still on his course of anti antibiotics going to give it a wash with some detol anticeptic and put more cream on it

also had them out a good 4 mile walk tonight in busy places through town centre lots of barking dogs traffic etc and they seemed fine, they were there usual staffy self

Sandi got a puncture wound on her cheek a few months ago. Keep washing it out with salt water. Squeeze a load right in if you can. The wound needs to heal from the inside out, and you need to make sure it doesn't get infected. Sandi's face was very swollen and puffy for a couple of days after, I think it is just like any injury, they usually swell up at first. Just keep an eye on it and make sure it isn't hot to touch. If his face feels hot where the wounds are it may be infected. Good luck and I'm sure he will heal up in no time.

I don't know if you can get it over there, but I got a bottle of puff penicillin powder a while ago...and one time when my old cat got attacked by another cat and had a nasty wound I squeezed heaps of the powder in to the wound. I was amazed how quickly it healed up.

I haven't seen that stuff around for years Vanessa, we always had it around where I used to go on a cattle station when I lived in Cairns. That was really good for healing wounds.

I actually asked about it at a stock feed place recently and they said it is now called Pink Eye Powder (??) and for a piddly little bottle was over $20 !

From my Tyson to your Tyson: Feel better soon mate and enjoy your walks without fear. To Kic - I hope you are ok - it is quite a shock when the get into it especially two staffies!
