advice needed
We have just taken on a rescue staffy cross but he nibbles/bites your hands and arms often. The problem is he doesn't stop and eventually it hurts and ideas how we can stop him. The other thing we have is that he has decided that 2 am is a good time to need to go out to pee and poo. He goes out about 11/11.30 and does what he needs to any suggestions how to break him out of this habbit too. Other than that he's great

Re: advice needed
Had a similar problem with regs to toileting at night, although mine wouldn't wake me just go on the floor, (not nice). I changed her feeding times to about 8 in morning after first toilets and b4 first walk and then an hour before her afternoon walk, whatever time that may be, (anything from 3 till 6) and it did the trick. Out of interest what food have you got the dog on??
The mouthing, you just have to give a firm No, and if he carries on ignore it and turn your back, you have to be very firm, even if its just loving hes giving you. Staffies hate to be ignored and you need to snap that in the bud asap as he is getting older now.
May help but my advice x

Re: advice needed
Bless, chappie was a food recommended to me because moo has very bad guts and chappie is supposed to be very bland. I ended up going on Royal Canin but I think her prob was more suvere than yours!
Try really early toilets and then very last thing at night, if for the moment you can lock him in a place where cleaning toilets up would be easier do that, he will learn. Crate training is something people advised me on but I haven't had to do it but might be an idea.
How long have you had him?

Re: advice needed
Crate training could be an idea as most staffords HATE to mess their bed! Although at 2 years old that may be difficult (some take to it real easy, some not so).
I agree with a walk last thing at night - if your main walk is earlier that's fine, the last walk only needs to be 15 minutes just to let him empty himself before bed.
P.S. Don't feed too soon before/after a walk. It can lead to bloat. My dogs are fed either an hour after a walk or not less than 2 hours before a walk (preferably after).

Re: advice needed
It could be that he's still settling in? It takes some dogs longer than others.

Re: advice needed
Most staffys do have a tendancy to do this. Often people say no to a dog but dont really mean no {when the dog is playing as they find it funny.} You have to reinforce the no and let the dog no that your not happy. In regards to toiliting try feeding your dog late at night and as im sure you do let the doggy out first thing in the morning. It should sleep all night with a full belly. lol, Plus it will take a while for him to settle and find a routine.

Re: advice needed
we have been very firm, fair but firm when he nibbles and that is improving apart from when he wants to play then he's just bonkers and its impossible to calm him down other than walking out of the room closing the door and leaving him for a minute or two. We have not been woken up by him wanting to go out for a few nights long may it continue. He's been here 2 months and i think we were just too easy on him to begin with

OK, here's a little option for you - something I learned with my very first dog (Belgian Terveuren) and has stood me in good stead with every male I've had since.........
Try to hold your boy still (easier said than done, I know) and then just gently rub or tickle the soft skin just inside & at the top of his back leg. It may not work the first couple of times, but they ALL love it, and they end up just standing there with sloppy grins on their faces (just like men!) and all quiet & soft.
