Advice needed please
Hi,
I was really looking forward to taking Sky ( now 5 and a half months ) to Sherwood forest medievel festival Nottingham on Saturday. I then read the lincolnite ( our local online news paper ) and i found this article
http://thelincolnite.co.uk/2012/08/fears-of-mystery-seasonal-dog-illness-return/
So several dogs have become poorly, and even died. I might be stupid to even consider taking sky but i thought the day out would be really nice as my family are going too.
Any opinions on taking her/not taking her?

Personally, after reading that article, I wouldn't take the risk.

Re: Advice needed please
I planned to take Tilly the other year to Clumber Park caravan site which is on the doorstep of Sherwood Forest and remember reading something along these lines about some outbreak so decided to cancel and go somewhere else, I seem to remember there been some accusations of scare mongering and it was old news , but not worth the risk with the babies, I'll have a dig around and see if i can find the stuff I read , it would have been early last year I think

Dont think I would risk it either.
Maybe have a word with your vet and ask if they have any experience of it.

Re: Advice needed please
Found it , this was the warning from the Caravan Club at the time (post from 28/9/2010)
The Caravan Club have just released a notice to their members as follows:
The Caravan Club has become aware that there have been several incidents of dogs falling ill with an enteritis-like sickness whilst visiting the Sandringham Estate and Sherwood Forest. It is understood that a similar occurrence took place last year and was thought to have been due to a parvo virus-style infection.
The infection is not specific or related to The Caravan Club sites in these areas, but members should be aware and take precautions when visiting the areas around Sandringham Estate Caravan Club Site and Clumber Park Caravan Club Site. The Sandringham Estate has asked the Animal Health Trust to investigate these incidents and to try to identify the cause.

Hope it helps you make up your mind

Umm, see she is always kept on a short lead whilst out and we were round a woodland type play park last weekend and she was fine. But i don't think i could risk it! If she got poorly or worse id blame myself. Thanks for all your input just a shame she gets to miss out on the fun

Re: Advice needed please
I wouldn't take a puppy to a place where there'd been concerns about parvo, my understanding is that it can survive on soil for quite some time.
