Accidents when we leave the room
Hi guys!
So we got a puppy, she is 11 weeks now and she is doing great. However, we have noticed during the last few days when me or my partner leave the room, even for a short period of time we come back into the room and she has done several accidents! Accidents during the day is normal but we have noticed a pattern when we have left the room. Is this anxious behaviour because we have left her? What would you guys advise? It is difficult because we have been home 24/7 due to coronavirus and aren't working so she has been around us all day everyday. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Re: Accidents when we leave the room
So when you leave the room, where is the puppy ? Is she loose ? Ina crate/puppy pen ? Is she truly alone or is Angel with her ?
And when you say a short time, are we talking 5-10 minutes or more than 30 ?
Then how do you react when you get back and what do you do ?
It could be attention seeking as she sees you make a fuss (even a negative attention is attention to be had). She also sees you taking care of her and her mess ...
Maybe try to take her outside before you intend to leave her for a while.
Is she has made a mess, some say to take her elsewhere so she doesn’t see you cleaning up.

Re: Accidents when we leave the room
When we leave the room Cali is in a play pen with her crate in the pen. She is alone and Angel is in a different room.
Any time that she is alone, be that if I am gone to a different room to sort a few things out for 10 minutes of if I go to the shop for 30 minutes
When we come back to the mess I just clean it up and take her outside, I don't make any sort of fuss but maybe the fact she is seeing me clean it could be an issue? I am not sure..

Re: Accidents when we leave the room
Hey!
I don't believe you leaving the room is causing her to have accidents. Puppies dont have full control over their bladder until they're fully developed at about 1 year old.
You need to encourage 'wee wee's' or whatever you to call it after every playtime, meal time, anything exciting time. And when Cali does her business outside you need to have a party, go overboard with fuss and even a special treat. She will associate this with good behaviour. Shes still so young and it could be caused by a little separation anxiety but carry on house training as normal. If she saw you clean the mess, this wont make a difference if she continues to do it or not. You just cant scold her for it. Puppies take time.to house train so patience and persistence is key. Lockdown is prime time to nail the training.
Good luck and keep us posted!
