Having accidents Empty Having accidents

Otis has been really good with his toilet training over the past 2 months asks all the time to go out but recently he has started having accidents. He has had a few accidents in the office (he comes to work with us) which we think have happened because he has got a little over excited and forgot about needing to go hence he gets caught short. He has also done it at home, again due to not asking and being busy doing something else. Generally he is very good and pesters either myself or my partner to go out, but he also seems to want to go more at the moment too. Could it be because of the warm weather we have just had therefore drinking more water? Will he still be mastering his bladder control too?

I know he is still learning and it's normal to have accidents, he has just been so good so wanted to ask the question.

Could be the weather and drinking more, could be accidents, I wouldn't worry just stick with the training, they can seem to go downhill at times but its generally just a phase Smile

We had a similar thing with darcy not so long ago were she would pee up stairs!!! Just went back to basics for a week and she hasn't looked back. I'm sure he'll be fine. Smile

Nitro has accidents more when it's raining. I read Staffs hate rain- yup that's it lol!

The other day tho (on the rare occasion) when we had sun, he did pee more. But was drinking loads!

All sounds normal Smile.

Gemma my old dog took ages to "get it." But it came in the end... *She wasn't very bright tho, bless* Tongues

Could be, or he could just forget. It wasn't all that long ago the last time Loki peed in the house, it was because he was too busy playing with his toy to remember he needed to go to the toilet Laughing. Sometimes they forget even though they know.

I think most of them 'forget' occasionally, especially when they're excited or tired.

Just don't make a fuss & reinforce what you want him to do - he'll get there!

Could definately be the increase in water consumption. They normally have full control of their bladder at about 6 months

Just a quick thought. Could it be that he has a slight UTI?

Thank you everyone Smile Just needed to ask the question as it was a little out of character for him as he has been doing very well.

Caryll: Just looked up the symptoms of a UTI it could be possible, do you think it would be worth me asking the vet if it continues? I will keep a close eye on him, now I know the symptoms, over the weekend.

He has been very good today and no accidents Smile Been quite sleepy but I think that is because it has been warm.
