Night time accidents.
Hi all
I need some help please ;-(
We rescued Lexi at 4months and she had no training!
She was a nightmare tbh but is a love now.
She took a long time to house train so wasn't fully trained untill 6-7 months.
My problem is she still has the odd accident at night. How can I stop this please? Xx

Re: Night time accidents.
Do you take her for a walk last thing at night and make sure the tanks are emptied before bed?
Other than that, it's just time. Some dogs take time to be fully 100% house trained.

Re: Night time accidents.
Baxter is walked in the evening, before bed I take him out in the garden, he gets a treat when he toilets, we have no accidents over night so this seems to work for us.

Re: Night time accidents.
only thing i can suggest is set your alarm for during the night and let her out, just till she can hold it in all night.

Same here. I think it's because I used to let Bo out very regularly as a pup and he never learned to ask to go out. The upside was he was house-trained in a couple of days (aside from just two accidents in the past year) but the downside is he's too polite to tell me if he really needs to go. One time he had the runs, so I let him sleep upstairs to keep an eye on him and I awoke at 3:30am to see his fat head six inches from my face, staring silently at me. I let him out and he was desperate, he must have been holding it in for ages!

See she let's me know in the day she is fine but she isn't allowed upstairs so in the night it's hard. I guess I just have to wait till she learns to hold it more. On the plus side she knows it's naughty as she won't get out her bed till I've cleaned it up x

Re: Night time accidents.
i would stop the water after 5 or 6 oclock until the dog learns to last the whole night this wwnt do her any harm as she has had a plentiful supply of water the whole day i would try and let her out at the very latest opportunity as well to stop accidents. i would cut the treats for toilet traning altogether until she has stopped going in the house for at least a month this will give the dog something to work towards i would use high praise instead of treats.
