Hi, I'm new to the forum. I have an eleven month old blue staffie bitch. She's been fine up until recently then over christmas she came up in bumps and a rash all over her body. It was more visible on her chest as this is white. It didn't seem to bother her and it's more or less gone now, we did give her Benadryl to help. I thought it may be a change in washing powder which may be the case but I'm not totally sure. She had come up previously in a couple of bumps previously but nothing major. I already have her on a grain free diet. Does anybody have any experience with their own blue as to what their main triggers are?

Hi & welcome!

I don't have a blue, but I know they're more prone to skin allergies than some other colours.

If Benadryl helps & she isn't too bothered by the occasional flare ups, then I wouldn't worry too much.

Does she get bare patches, or soreness?

Hi from me & Katy Big Grin It is possible that a change of washing product could have caused the bumps. If the antihistamine helped then it probably is an allergy.

I have a 4 year old blue staffie. He has been struggling with allergies since early age. He is on 5mg prendislone every day but now after 2-3 years hes starting to show bad side effects loosing his hair he looks about 8. We have spent 1000s on tests etc tried everything . Recently we have put him on cbd oil and have been able to drop the prendisalone to 2.5mg a day.

I've heard several good reports about CBD oil, but also many where it's done nothing at all.

Worth a try, but choose your supplier carefully to make sure it's good quality, and bear in mind it's very expensive.!

Up until yesterday, no but this morning she has a really angry patch on her left leg. I'm thinking it's something in my daughters room as she slept in there last night for the first time in a few days and she got up this morning with a reaction. It had seemed to be under control up until then

I wonder if there's something perfumed in your daughter's room?

I think it could be her bedding, she washed it in different detergent, she's since washed it but there could still be traces in her bedding. Also Zoflora seems to irritate her too. I'm going to look at the CBD oil and Omega 3 fish oil. I have her insured but am loathe to go straight down the allergy testing route so quickly

Could well be washing detergent, that's often a problem.

I have a 10 month old blue. He has had problems since the day we picked him up. Not sure what he is allergic to. What worked for us is the grain free food (which you are already using). It was recommended that we stay away from chicken, which is apparently something they are allergic to very often. So Archie’s food is lamb based. We are also adding some organic coconut oil and one sardine in his food once a day. He hasn’t had any spots since we started this. Over the Christmas period we got a bolt slack and over a two week period we missed quite a few days of it and he was only on his kibble. Spots came back almost instantly. Now that we are back in a routine it’s getting better. Hope this helps.
