Allergies
Vinny suffers with grass and heat allergies and his rash/excema is really playing up in this heat. Besides being wiped down on coming in, taking antihistamines, using Sudocrem and giving him a shampoo with allergy/anti-itch stuff, he's struggling today, so I think we're off to the vet in the morning, perhaps for a cortisone shot Anyone else's furbabies suffer?
Not sure the pic shows how red his tum is

Thanks ladies. His itchy bumps are calm after having been shampooed but I'm not happy with that tum. I'll get to the vet as soon as they open in the morning

Yes, we have. Will have him off to the vet shortly to see what they say.

Re: Allergies
Back from the vets - they said we're doing everything right so he's had a cortisone shot and got some antibiotics for the itchy bumps and sores that he's scratched under his front legs. Also some stronger antihistamines. I hate giving so many pills and having to get cortisone, so I hope it helps. It's just so hot and dry at the minute - staffy's really aren't for summer, are they

I have - they get regularly with their meals
I don't want to have him living on cortisone and antibiotics. I admit his skin has calmed down since this morning's shot, but still. I've just got the vet receipts out and see he's had a shot once a month for the last couple of hot months - I hadn't even realised. I will continue to keep wiping him down and I do try to keep him inside as much as possible in this heat (which isn't hard) but I need to think of more ways around too many chemicals in his system.
