How much should an 8 week puppy weigh?

Hi everyone, i have just adopted an englih staffy and he is 8 weeks old. He was 5kg, i weighed him myself and when holding him he even feels a little more and was wondering what most 8 week puppies weigh

Hello, welcome and congratulations on your adoption

Weight will of course vary.
Nifty was just over 3kgs (5 in the litter) and Opium was just over 4kgs (2 in the litter).
Then again, Nifty overtook Opium and has weighed in more (for same age) since her 11 weeks.

Just make sure you keep an eye on Charlie’s weight and don’t let him be too chubby. There are alot of examples if you do an internet search on dog condition score.

Thanks Nifty Staff that was very helpful. charlie is not chubby but just quite big his father is the biggest staffy i have ever seen, charlie weighed in at 3.2kg on the 2/1/19 at the vet. he was in a litter of 9

by the way your dogs are gorgeous, is opium a pure bred? I have heard of black and tan staffs but never seen one before.

Is Charlie 8 weeks now or 8 weeks during the vet weigh-in ?
I’m sure his weight is fine for a big growing pup.

Thanks for the compliments on mine and yes, both are full KC registered staffies out of pure staffie parents (though completely unrelated).

Charlie is currently 8 weeks weighing 5 kg, I feel like his getting bigger everyday it's crazy. on the 2nd of Jan he weighed 3.2kg at the vet for his shots.

They do grow crazy quick, don’t worry too much at this early stage, as long as Charlie isn’t getting really chubby all will be fine, he’s growing and burning a lot of energy and will do for the next 12 months.

As long as he looks healthy, has a defined waisted and you can feel the ribs all is good regardless of that puppy eyed starving Staffy stare
