New and after opinions
Hi everyone,
I recently became the proud owner of a beautiful 8 month old Staffy cross. He is brilliant with other dogs and loves people. My question is what do you guys think he's crossed with? I'm worried that he looks like a "pitbull type" and would hate for him to be taken off us as he is a big soppy thing and we love him to bits already. He is quite a big boy already so we were thinking he might be staffy x ridgeback. Tia x

Re: New and after opinions
Hi and welcome from me and mine
What a gorgeous dog, love those deep eyes
It's really hard to say what the cross is. It could be ridgeback - does he have a ridge at all? - but it could equally be something else, or a mix of things. Sometimes crossbreeds have various breeds in them and they don't always end up looking like you'd expect the mix to.
Re the question of pit bull type, have a read through here, someone has just asked the same question:
https://staffy-bull-terrier.niceboard.com/t66499-new-and-need-help-is-my-pup-a-staff
My answer to you is the same as it was to jabs.
It sounds like you're doing a great job with the socialisation - keep that going and keep general training going so that everyone can see what a well behaved dog he is, that he's no worry to anyone, and that's your best insurance policy.

Hi & Welcome to the Forum from Flo and me
Well he certainly is a cross but I'm rubbish at guessing what with. The issue is with the word "Type" really and what may have caused him to be assessed. If he's a well rounded sociable dog then there shouldn't be any problems and that really is the key, good training and good ownership.
Have to add, he does like ok fab

Re: New and after opinions
Thank you for your replies. He is currently going to puppy classes and I am trying to train him at home too. He can be very stubborn but is very intelligent and picks things up quickly. He is brilliant with other dogs so far and just wants to play and absolutely loves people. He doesn't have a ridge Lizp. I may get a DNA test done to give us an idea of what breeds he is.

Hi from me & Katy, he is a gorgeous boy Great advise already given, but as said socialisation is the key to a great dog, don't give anyone any reason to point your dog out from the rest

Wow what a beautiful boy you have, he really is a stunner. He looks similar to a lab cross staff I know. Welcome to the forum
