Hi all, Baxter is 6 months old and I have been advised by our vet that he is now the ideal age for castration, my question is has anyone on here had their dog Done and if do what effects did it have? Have they developed properly physically in terms of size etc. I have read that a castrated male does not develop as well physically.

Sounds like the vet may be being a bit hasty there Surprised Surely it is better to wait until the dog is fully grown and matured, at about 2-3 years old, before making this decision

Seems young to me too. I've always been under the impression that waiting till they are mature is the best thing so that they get the full release of hormones whilst developing. Not sure if that is fact or fiction though.

I've opted not to have mine done, now 15 months no issues with humping or aggression. For around 2 weeks did hump around 9mo old however with little fuss being made and a firm no he soon grew out of it. I've read it's more of a behaviour then anything else
Personally I do t wish to put mine through the operation for no reason

I certainly believe it should be what you feel is right.
