allergies?
I have terrible allergic reactions to 90% of dogs yet me and my partner got a staffy as i adore dogs and always wanted one and since having floyd i have no reaction like i do with other breeds ie itchy puffy eyes, blocked and runny nose and lack of breath but have discovered a different one with him which is that i can pet and play with him using my hands but if i have a t shirt on or no top if he touches any skin bar my hands i get itchy and a sort of rash that disappears after a short time anyone know why this is?

Re: allergies?
I don't know why it is, but I have the exact same problem with my dog. It's usually just my arms. I come out in little, very itchy blisters, and my son is the same.
Other than that I don't have any other reaction to him at all!

Re: allergies?
my friend's daughter has the same problem! she often gets redness & itchiness on exposed areas when she has touched a dog - not always, but often.
if she knows that she is going to be in contact with a dog she uses an antihistamine cream on exposed areas & that generally seems to help.

Re: allergies?
as staffies coats are quite coarse sometimes try coconut oil in your dogs coat eventually it will make your dogs coat softer may lesson the reaction . fish in their diet is good too such as tuna, mackarel, salmon, pilchards. and an egg twice a week

Re: allergies?
I used to get an awful rash when we first took Pepper on. It would blister and itch like mad.
When she came to me she hadn't been on a very good diet (Wagg) and her coat condition was a little coarse and prickly.
I found changing her diet (I opted to feed raw) helped and after a couple of months her coat went a lot softer and I know longer had to ensure I was covered from head to toe in clothing before touching her.
Adding fish into the diet will help - sardines, sprats etc.
