Diarrhoea
Hi All,
Just wondered if there is anything in Goose/Duck poo that can irritate dogs stomachs?
The reason Im asking is (as you should always spend Valentines day with the one you love) on Sunday Misty anad I went on a lovely long walk to the river. We had a great time- the sun was shining and it was lovely. She did gobble up a few goose/duck poos before I could stop her
So she was fine on Sunday night and Monday all day and evening. Shes not off her food at all- she loves her walks as usual. She hasn't changed or acted ill in anyway however, Monday night we were woken up at 1 in the morning- we thought she just wanted a cuddle so we didnt take too much notice. I just gave her a cuddle and she settled next to me on the pillow(she normally sleeps down the end of our bed) Next thing we know we smelled that she had gone to toilet in the bedroom. We took her straight out and she went to the loo again. So we cleaned the bedrooom up and just thought it was maybe one of those things. Found out in the morning she had gone in the front room too.
Yesterday she was acting normally too- enjoying her food, waking up the same time, wanting her walks, running around, playing so we just thought maybe she had an upset stomach for one night. Well this morning we were woken up at 4am and couldn't get her out quick enough so she made a mess again. I took her straight out and she went to the loo in the garden as well. Took her out this morning at 7am and she went again.
I have tried to think if she has eaten anything that could upset her and the only thing I can think of is the bird mess down the river on Sunday?
Im going to make a vets appointment today if possible, as if nothing else they may be able to give her something to settle her stomach.
Does anyone have any advice re the bird mess?

Re: Diarrhoea
Oh bless her. Are the stools just loose or are they watery? Any mucus or blood? Sounds gross, but do they smell particularly badly?

Re: Diarrhoea
Sorry all for not replying sooner, had major issues with my internet.
Thanks for all your replies.
Rachel- it was very runny a bit like very lightly whipped mousse and the smell was a lot worse then normal (but then again that might just have been because it was indoors and not outside in the fresh air?)
I couldn't get a vets appointment but they said to give her bland food and if it happened again bring her in the next day (Thurs). So Weds I bought her fresh chicken breast and cooked them in the oven. She wolfed it down as usual. Weds night we were on tenterhooks all night waiting to see if she needed to go out at all, but nothing. She got us up at 6 on Thursday a bit earlier than normal (normally we aim for 7). Her stools have been a lot better now - not completely normal but much, much better then they were and she hasn't had an accident. Shes back on her normal food now and seems absolutely fine. I really don't know what she ate that disagreed with her but something was definitely going on. So happy she is back to normal.
Probably completely unrelated but today after her morning walk she came home- after having her normal amount of wees on her walk, she sat down on the floor and some wee came out. She looked absolutely shocked when she smelt it. It wasn't an accident more of a leakage. Its happened twice more tonight but much smaller amounts. We are keeping an eye on this, hopefully it was just a little leak from her excitement at coming home after the park?
Once again thank you for your earlier replies!

Re: Diarrhoea
Good news that the smelly end is better Emma, if it's any consolation Flo very occasionally has a loose movement and we give her chicken until she's ok.
Strange about the wee accident though bless her.

She was spayed in June last year - a couple of months after her second season.
It hasn't happened again today yet but a urine infection doesn't sound great so if it happens again Ill book her into the vets I think.

Re: Diarrhoea
Seems like it was a one off thankfully. She's had no other leaks since Friday. It's such a worry when they have an upset isn't it as they can't tell you what's wrong.

Re: Diarrhoea
I think we over see things sometimes Emma, purely because they can't say things like "Opps that was an accident"

Re: Diarrhoea
That's so true Ian. I'm so protective over her, if hubby had a limb hanging off I'd say a good nights sleep will cure that! If Misty has an upset tummy I want to rush her to A&E!
