White Patches Turning Pink, HELP!
My Black and white female staff (6 months old) has recently over the last 2 months has her white patches turn pink. The pink patches don't seem to bother her too much as she doesn't itch or lick it excessively but it does look unattractive as i am planning on breeding her (she has pedigree papers).
I am currently using apple cider vinegar and spraying it on the white patches with a clean spray bottle and letting it sink in for 5mins before washing her with hypoallergenic shampoo, then drying her off and applying 100% pure raw virgin coconut oil (chemical free) to her skin by just rubbing it on with my hands.
I am Feeding her Sporting puppy nuts they are also hypoallergenic and have started giving her 2 raw eggs a week.
I am open to any suggestions and willing to spend the money if needs be,
Any advice as to what it may be and what can cure it would be greatly appreciated!

Re: White Patches Turning Pink, HELP!
Do you mean her fur is turning pink? cider vinegar is very good but has to be diluted with water. If you are worried for her well being not just her appearance I would pop her along to the vets. I will ask why you intend to breed her and urge you to think hard about this in great detail. We are forever urging peeps to consider the copious amount of staffys in shelters that end up there from bad breedng, many of which end up being euthanised. If you can when you have a mo pop here and say hi and introduce your baby

Re: White Patches Turning Pink, HELP!
Has she been out in the sun much at all? The food may be hypo-allergenic but she may be sensitive to one of the proteins - my friend's dog goes pink and itchy when she eats chicken, and my dog gets itchy with lamb.
I also second Inez's comment about the breeding - please consider this carefully, we are so overrun with staffies with nowhere to go.

Can't really add much to what has already been posted other than asking a vets advice.

Re: White Patches Turning Pink, HELP!
If there's no medical problem - and I agree with getting a vet to confirm that - it is probably just the way she is. I can't see how various potions and lotions can change that. What I would say, though, is to be careful that your stress and the repeated bathing etc. don't have an impact on her psychologically. She's at an age where these things can leave a lasting mark.
I know you're thinking of breeding from her (and I do echo the views of others above) but whether you do or whether you don't, the most important thing is to love her as she is. White, pink or green, she's still the same little dog inside.

Re: White Patches Turning Pink, HELP!
Of course I love her no matter what colour she is i am just concerned that she isnt at her full potential and think it only makes sence to give her the best i can!
ive only got her 2 days ago i took her in from friend as he has two other staffies and his wife just had her 3rd child, she seems extremely happy in her new home. As for the breeding i have thought about it and 100% plan on breeding her with my other friends blue male as it has been planned by my two friends since the birth of Minnie (my female)
I am washing her 2 times a week, any opinions, tips or advice?
Does anyone have any idea what might be causing the pinkness in the skin if she isn't itching at it too much and it doesn't look to dry, on a scale of 1-10 (1 being white and 10 being salmon pink) she would be a 6.
I Think a Trip to the vets is in order just for another opinion.
Any other advice is also appreciated on or off topic.

Re: White Patches Turning Pink, HELP!
I wouldn't wash my dog twice a month, let alone twice a week!!! It may even be making the pinkness worse. I bath my dog about 3 times a year, generally only if she's rolled in something really grim. It's bad for the balance of their skin to over wash them. Take her to a vet and see what they say. But if she has got a skin condition would you not reconsider breeding her?! Especially with a blue, a pigment that is prone to skin problems anyway. Can I ask why you're so adamant to breed?!
If you only got her 2 days a go, how are you washing her twice a week? You said she has gotten worse over the past two months?!

Re: White Patches Turning Pink, HELP!
I have only washed her once since i got her i would wash my collie in my mothers house only when he is dirty was thinking keeping it clean with hypoallergenic shampoo which also restores the ph level would be good but thanks for the advice!
reason for breeding is to keep the bloodline of my dead friends staff (Minnies Mother) alive. I highly doubt she has a skin condition but if so I would re-consider, the REASON I am posting on this forum is to try figure out if it is a skin condition or not, and is it permanent or not.

Re: White Patches Turning Pink, HELP!
Only a vet would be able to tell you for definite I'm afraid, as we haven't actually seen it we couldn't say, and even if we had we couldn't say 100% as we aren't professionals. Her skin will naturally keep itself at a balanced ph level, a vet may offer a prescribed shampoo, or recommend a dietary change, they may do skin scrapes. I've just had a look into the food and the main ingredient is chicken meal and maize, which isn't good and may irritate her skin. It's also a food for working/racing dogs - not your usual pet puppy. Why not try a fish based diet and see how you get on? Are you in the UK?

Re: White Patches Turning Pink, HELP!
Might help if you could post a picture in daylight but ultimately I would think a vet opinion would be best so that any meds could be applied if it's something more than just sitting in the sun too much.

Re: White Patches Turning Pink, HELP!
Im only lookin for an opinion not presuming anyone is a professional Im in Ireland can anyone recommend a good food for her, don't mind spending the money to give her the best.
I would urge you to try teach me with your answers not 'tell' me as obviously enough by taking the time to research and post on forums like this i only want to further my knowledge to give Minnie the best quality of life i can.
My friend that lives with me also has a black male 10/11 weeks old called rocco, they seem to get on just fine but does anyone have any advice on that topic?

Re: White Patches Turning Pink, HELP!
Can you order from the UK to Ireland? I'm not familiar with which foods are available there.
It can be hard to put your point across without tone/body language in written text, but I am attempting to teach not tell. I'd suggest creating a new post in the puppy section with that question, you will get more views there

Re: White Patches Turning Pink, HELP!
Pinkness of the fur is often the result of staining from saliva through too much licking, so this might indicate an underlying skin condition.
I'm not sure Staffies need washing at all, unless it's to treat a known skin condition with a specific shampoo or something. Certainly I've never washed Bo and his fur is like seal skin and he smells like new car seats. If he gets filthy (like he did when he was up to his nostrils in a massive pond of cow crap) I dry him off with an old towel then brush him down with a stiff brush.

Re: White Patches Turning Pink, HELP!
Just a Little update on how Minnie is getting on,
Since Ive gotten Minnie her redness has changed to a healthier looking pink almost skin colour after only one week.
The new diet of fish once a week, 2 tea spoons of coconut oil, 1 tea spoon of ACV (apple cider vinegar) every 2nd day and 2 tea spoons of salmon oil every other day seems to be working wonders.
As for the bathing im fairly sure that she has a bacterial type maybe yest infection, the myth of only bathing a dog very seldom comes from older and early dog shampoos drying out the dogs coat but with the right choice of shampoo, bathing is one of the most basic and most common sence things for keeping on top of an infection like that in my opinion and that is from quite a lot of reading.
Im also spraying her down with 50:50 ACV/water solution and letting her soak in it for a few minutes before washing her down with hypoallergenic shampoo, im generally washing her once a week or if she gets dirty on walks.
Thanks for all the post so far guys these forums are a great source of knowledge, and experiences with this type of problem are always good to hear!

Re: White Patches Turning Pink, HELP!
Harri had pink skin showing through her white patch on the chest I just put it down to a thin coat in that area.
I was checking her over the other day and noticed that the pink had gone and it is all white now as we are heading into winter down here could it be her change of coat for the season? and I would assume you guys are in spring/summer could it be her coat changing for the warmer weather?
Cheers

Re: White Patches Turning Pink, HELP!
Peppa is white and got pinkish nose ears and tummy. If she's got pink skin under the white fur that's just how she is . Sorry but over washing can only drain the fur from natural oils and is not recomanded as said before unless she's got specific skin condition the food supplies you are using are very good and it's more then enough. If you have to Wash her but not more then once a month unless dragged in fox poo or other horror..

Re: White Patches Turning Pink, HELP!
Little Update.
Minnie has been taking nutrsia probiotics for a month now, she isnt smelly at all anymore, and her red rash all over her white patches has turned to a much more calmer white only going red no and again when she gets very warm (laying infront of the fire) but it is soon calmed with raw aloe vera (almost instantly).
Im fairly confident ive improved her immune system greatly and she is ready for a course of anti-biotics if thats what the vet sees fit at her next appointment in a weeks time.
* HAS ANYONE ANY TIPS FOR HAIR GROWTH? *
minnie has a very thin coat on her chest and I would like to try and improve on this next.

Thanks for the update and pleased to hear things are a lot better
My girl has very thin or little hair on her chest and Belly which doesn't bother her at all but can understand why you might want to improve it. Will be interested in any tips others can offer.
