My Doggy Diary by Nita, aged 2 and a half
First topic message reminder :
Yesterday was my first day with my new owner. He came to pick me up from where I was living. I thought I was going for walk but ended up in car sat on a girls knee. The window was down and I loved smelling all the things going past. I was nervous but had the feeling everything would be betterer.
We went to a shop that had a lot of nice smells that I liked, it was a dog shop. I got bought a new bed and bowls and some treats, a collar and a lead. I did a poo outside to celebrate, heh heh.
We then went to see a nice lady who I think is going to help me with my itching. I itch a lot and my ears are swollen and closed too. It drives my round the twist and I can't stop scratching. Maybe I lose concentration with it. I do not know.
We then went for another drive and went to a house. It is my new home I think. It smell better. I got a new toy and I run round like mad with it. I made a lot of noise banging it into things. Fun. I think I did wrong as I poo'd and wee'd in the house. Maybe I didn't give signal I need to do toilet. Man owner was nearly sick from smell. It was funny to watch but I felt a little sorry. My paws cannot do cleaning so I can't help.
We also went for nice long walk, it was foggy and I kept looking back to make sure new people with me. Mud and wet grass was my favourite and splashing in puddles (not poodles). I think we got lost because of fog.
When we got to new home I had to have a shower. I was smelly dog. It was like it rain in one place but I got man drenched too ha ha ha. Now I smelt betterer.
I had dinner, it was nice. I ate it all and had a lot of water. I think it was chicken. I liked it. Chicken nice. Yum
It been a long day so I needed to sleep. Instead of new bed I sleep in chair. It my chair now as not allowed on fabric island thing. It new. I think I make noise from other end as man owner and friend say it extremely smelly. I carry on ha ha ha. It fun.
I saw man owner yawning, he was tired. He went to bed. I followed ha ha. I not stay on floor, bed nicer. I make sure I take up all bed and man owner sleep on edge. I am a lady so it right thing to do.
Today I wake after man owner wake. Ahhh nice sleep. We have another walk to shop and I see girl who said hello to me last time, she friendly. Small adult come and ask for stroke. He nice but I must not jump on him as it is scary.
We do training too as I not good at it. Now I can sit, stay and come. I get treats when doing right. I think it good to do right as man owner happy and we play. Now I sit by window typing this but have to stop as paws itchy like itchy thing. I type again soon
Woofity woof.

Re: My Doggy Diary by Nita, aged 2 and a half
I am 3. Today is birthday and me just got home from weekend at camping. I did get presents, a new lead, a coat that makes water not wet Nita, a big ball to play with, a ball on rope and also Dad let me have pooch beer. It from shop for pets.
I did also sleep in warm body bag thing in little house with Dad. I go to bottom and keep his feet warm. Then I also sleep with friend of Dad in her little house too. I snore.
We also go to pub and I sit on seat with Dad. My friend Ted who is also dog he fall asleep on floor. He old man and sometime growly at me. In pub two big dogs come in and they growl at him so I go and help him and stand beside him and I growl at them. They stop.
I find pictures on Dads phone thing.

Re: My Doggy Diary by Nita, aged 2 and a half
Our camping not in wood hut but in proper little house things
Re: My Doggy Diary by Nita, aged 2 and a half
Yeh we had a great time. It seriously 'persisted' it down the second day and as is the norm, was sunny when we were leaving. Thankfully, tents held up to the wind and rain. I had to have a few words with the miserable receptionist who told my friend if Nita didn't stop barking we would be thrown off camp. She had just got out of the car after an hour or so in it and got excited at the new smells.
Suffice to say, a few choice words in his lughole and all was well. Although having to get up at 5:30am to set off for 6:30 to miss the traffic for the Tour de Yorkshire wasn't my idea of fun.
The fifth pic of Nita and Ted, Nita reversed in towards Ted as he was growling at her for coming into his tent. Bless her, she finally got to lie down on the rug though.

Re: My Doggy Diary by Nita, aged 2 and a half
My poor little girl has had a set back with her mange treatment, she has been excessively licking her paws and scratching her ears and face this past week so much so she has got secondary infections in her paws. Been to the vets today and she has finally had a skin scrape so we can get to the bottom of this. She is also on antibiotics again, special shampoo that she needs twice a week and also has to wear a cone to stop her from licking and scratching everywhere.
She is currently in her basket feeling sorry for herself as she had scrapes on her stomach, neck, back and front paws and tail.
Plenty of TLC for her and nice treats should help too.

I've just ha d a call from the vet about Nita's skin scrapes and they came back negative for mites that cause the mange so all good there. It looks like she may have an allergy to something so now going down that route.

Re: My Doggy Diary by Nita, aged 2 and a half
Allergies are a real pain to work out. There are two ways to do it, either change the whole food range in one go but remember that it will take time for the allergen to leave the body or cut out certain suspicious food items one at a time. Again though, this will take some time.
We opted for the latter recently when Flo started to have loose motions. We eventually narrowed it down to the Fish Kibble we were giving her. Thankfully it was only a small bag so we identified it fairly quickly.

Re: My Doggy Diary by Nita, aged 2 and a half
Hey Ains, just read your whole thread from start to finish. What a lovely story. Nita is so lucky to have found you. I have a rescue too but I have been extremely lucky in that he is beautifully trained, super friendly with dogs and people, and has no health or temperament issues. Having spent the first six months at home with him I really thought when I went back to work at Easter we would have some issues but he is not even slightly destructive and doesn't bark (my neighbour works from home and tells me she never hears him). He's just a little bit giddy when I get home in the evening! I'm taking him on his first camping trip next month so we'll see how that pans out! Keep the diary going, it's very funny and a great read.

Indeed they are. Nita's paws flared up again yesterday. Still working out what caused it. Food wise I have gone back to well beloved as she was fine with that and she has been a bit better. Got to get her antihistamines today from the vets so they should help too

Thank you, I think we have both been lucky in finding each other. She is a really lovely little pooch, cheeky though and can at times give me the puppy dog eyes when she wants something, and of course I fall for it. I think the best way to get a pooch is by rescue, they so deserve a good life and it's fantastic you have and got such a great pooch too. Hope the camping trip is great fun and plenty of room in the sleeping bag for you both.
Re: My Doggy Diary by Nita, aged 2 and a half
Ains, see what the vet offers you with antihistamines. If it's a regular tablet decline it and get a generic one from the supermarket or chemists, will be a lot cheaper I should think and exactly the same as a prescribed one from the vets. Do ask first though. We were fortunate that our vet offered this advice up front.

Thanks Ian, I will do. So they are exactly the same things? I've got some from Boots I used when getting attacked by midges in Spain.
Re: My Doggy Diary by Nita, aged 2 and a half
Piriton is what we give Flo but do check with the vet that it's the same as they want to prescribe just in case. I think you'll probably get them on the back foot if you ask and get an honest answer

I generally thought all antihestamines were the same but a typical non hayfever sufferer would say that

Today I did go for walk with Dad, it warm. We only out a little time and me get warm so I find nice water and lay down. I get muddy like piggy. Dad then made me take shower when home and it took half of clock to get clean. But it fun.

Re: My Doggy Diary by Nita, aged 2 and a half
At the weekend I did go camping with Dad and friends, it much fun and we all had good time. It rain a bit but not much like last camp we did. I also stay with Auntie in tent for weekend. I did make bottom noise and tent evacuated quick.
We did do nice walk and I did walk good and not try run after sheeps or cowsies or rabbitits. We did then go to pub as water fell from sky and we spend long time in pub, I did sleep as tired from walk.
One evening I did play with ball and Dad did make video below. Oh I also like chew through ropes that make tents stay up. I chew a lot of them ha ha ha ha.
