hi there was wondering peoples thoughts on the way i feed my dog rocco, he was on arden grange dry food but i moved to happy dog sport chicken dry mix feed as i was told it has a far higher protein content than arden grange. hes on a half dry and half raw diet, i use prize choice raw feed chicken/lamb, so basically wondering if people think this is a healthy diet for him? thanks.

Not if fed together. Raw and dry digest at very different rates which isn't good for their bodies. If you are confident/happy to feed raw then i would recommend going 100% raw as it is much better for dogs anyway. All dry kibble is going to have a high cereal content.

If you're really wanting to do 50/50, it's better to feed the raw in the morning as it'll be digested by the time you feed at tea time! Raw only takes about 4-6 hours to digest and kibble takes about 8-12 hours I'm sure!

Dogs live on meat naturally. There is little to no nutritional value in kibble as it is mostly vegetables which dogs can't even digest. I feed wet and dry because honestly i didn't know any better and my girl is okay, but her teeth have gone at only 9 and shes had weight problems. I would love to feed raw 100% but it just isn't possible right now.

My 2 are raw fed and I would never go back to kibble now! My pup has been raw fed since she was 7.5 weeks, she's now 18 weeks and she's thriving! She's got a brilliant appetite and will eat anything put in her bowl. My boy is a lot more picky and fussy about what he eats, but I'm trying to break him out this mindset he's in!

I ran out of my normal raw food and used it for a few days. I didn't really like the Prize Choice, it was too finely minced and sloppy for my liking when defrosted! The dogs weren't too keen on it either.

I get my raw from DAF ( Durham Animal Feeds ) you should see if they deliver to you, they deliver to me in Paisley every 4weeks!

Yes, if done properly a dog thrives on a raw diet. However, it isn't just raw meat. It's raw bones & a little offal as well!

I don't like Prize Choice, as already said it's very finelt minced & sloppy.

Before you decide to go raw have a read through these - they'll give you an idea of what you need to do....

i feed raw and feed 2 dogs on around £15 a month using DAF as a main supplier and adding extras in so you wouldn't need £100 if you can use a supplier

I feed 2 for £40-£50 roughly and it lasts about 1.5-2month. They do deliver to Scotland, I'm just outside Glasgow but don't know if they deliver as far as you! Email them and ask!

Just now I'm ordering mostly mince as Baileys awkward! My last order was chicken mince, lamb mince, turkey mince and duck wings etc. I also pick up stuff from Morrisons in the reduced section! Lamb bones, beef bones, pork ribs, ox tail, liver, kidney etc!
