Typical Staffy Puppy Weights?

Our pup is from a rescue, and their vet thought she is probably a staffy/JRT cross. Other people, since we have been walking her, think she is a staffy but one man asked if she was a JRT so maybe the vet is right. We know she may be anything from small JRT to large staffy size as an adult.

Just curious. Those of you with full-bred staffs - what did your pup weigh at say, 10 or 12 weeks? 4 months? 6 months? Just to give me some idea (not weighed her yet) of whether she is the same size as a regular staffy or a lot smaller?

The litter looked tiny to me when I first saw them at 8 weeks but not sure if this was because they are half JRT or because I hadn't seen such young pups for a while!

Cheers. Not sure what my old one weighed, now - but he was quite a bit heavier than my mini bull, when fully grown, and she was 14 KG.

Would be interesting to know what a 3 mth old staff weighs, as I can't seem to find any ballpark figure online!

Bo is a KC pedigree and he weighed 5.5Kg at 10 weeks, 10.5Kg at 6 months, 15Kg at 10 months and is now around 18Kg at 13 months. He's at the upper size and weight range for a Staffie but he's very lean with a sharply defined waist.

Lola was 5.9 kilo's when I got her weighed at 10 weeks x

They all differ in fairness, and difficult to know if she is crossed

Harley is KC reg staff 4 months and weighed him the other day and he was 7.7kg hope that helps

Ah brilliant info. Thanks, all. It's interesting to get a sense of what a 'normal' (as far as any of them are normal!) staffy is.

When I got her, at 9 weeks she was 2.4 KG so she is a little un. I will try and remember to weigh her tomorrow. Will have to get her to sit in the mixing bowl! Wish me luck.

My girls is 9 months and weight around 14kg but has put on more weight in the past few months and caught up to a more normal size I think. At 6 months she was only 9 kilos but she was unwell.
I myself am confused about this 'regular weight' thing as there is no way my girl can be full grown yet (she's quite little for a staffy I think) but females are meant to be between 11-15 kilos. And most makes I see and ask about weight at parks etc are over 20kg and don't look overweight at all.

My mini bull terrier was 14 KG and, although musclebound, still looked 'petite' upto almost any staffy. She was bang on for her Breed Standard. Our late staffy who was the same age, was considerably bigger but still one of the squat, old fashioned 'proper' staffies. Wish I could remember his weight!

My Louie is 16 weeks old and weighs 7.9kg, he is kc reg and a few people have said he's quite chunky x

My staffy is 9 months she now weighs 12kg

Weighed mine on the day she turned 5months, Tuesday just gone, she was 9.1kg

Mine is weighing at 4.8kg at 8 weeks.
Although he hasn't been eating a lot still getting used to being in a new home but getting there hopefully when I go back to the vets he would of put on some more weigh, he is not skinny though.

Busterr that means at about the same age (mine nearly 9 weeks when weighed) my staffy/JRT was literally half the weight of your's so that does confirm my suspicion she is more JRT size than staffy size for her age (currently). I suppose with crosses that can change.

She is 13 weeks now and when we walk her people (even staffy owners) say how tiny she is. And that was my first thought when we first saw her.

Hi i just got my new baby girl last week when she went to the vets for her first shot she was 8 weeks and weighed 3.8 kilos.

My flo is 12wks and weighs 5.5kg but is also small she was a rescue pup from dogs trust but is all staffy and full of herself with bags of attitude and a joy to be around size does not matter

Skye is 12 weeks and just over 4KG but she was the smallest in the litter but has come on leaps and bounds in recent weeks. Obviously dogs will grow bigger than bitches. Keep weighing your dog and as long as you are seeing weight gains every week you know that they are developing.

Ruby is 12.4kg at 8 months, for some reason I put 9 by accident lmfapp

Yes, I know they're all different sizes and shapes and that I won;t know her full size til she's maybe 18 mths or so - just interested as she is a cross, and I have no memory of what my old staffies weighed as pups. And 2.4 KG at 9 weeks did strike me as small - meaning she will be on the JRT side, size-wise, than the staffy side.

I'm just curious what staffies of a similar age weigh - they have been so overbred these past 30 years or so, that many will be nowhere near Breed Standard even if they're purebred staffs.

Miss Lula weighed around the same at that age it so hard to tell with them. Lula not big for a staffy and does not have the big staffy head but I knew she would not be big mum was only small

our Ziggy is a pedigree purebred stafford and is 12 weeks old and weighs 7.4kgs going to be a big solid boy I think!

Just weighed Harley he is KC reg and at 5 months today he is just over 12 kg think he is going to be a stocky boy

My baby was weighed again this week shes just turned 11 weeks and was 5.9kgs

Milo is 16.75 kg at 14 months and he never seems to put any weight on. Eats well for it too.

My mutt is just over 10 months old and she weighs in at 16.5 kg

I got Lexi at 4 months and she was 8kg. She is 9 months now and weighs 22kg x

My boy frankie was 14.4kg at 5 months think his going to be big!

Ziggy now 5 months/23 weeks and weighs 13kg

OK. Madam is now about 14 mths old and has finished growing (upwards, anyway. Outwards may well continue...) Vet weighed her and she finally came in at 14.5 KG. Just an update for anyone else reading this with a staffy/JRT cross! She is definitely bigger than a JRT. Vet said she is actually in the range for a "petite female staffy".

Maya was 4.5 kilo at 9 weeks, 8 at 11 weeks, then just shy of 10 kilo`s at 20 weeks. So she is slowing down, but i think she`s still going to be a big un I am guessing she is about 12 kilo now at 22 weeks.

Well Maya went to get spayed today, and all went very well with no complications The first thing they did was weigh Maya, and she came in at 14.5 kilo`s at 5 and a half months old !

My 2 were 5 months old yesterday and they both weighed in at 16kgs last week! Are think we are both going to have very big, thick set dogs!

My male puppy Spike currently weighs 10.5kg at 15 weeks. I think he will grow to be a heavy set dog, but i don't think he'll be particularly tall...He has an excellent pedigree (lots of champs and international champs, and a very posh Dad), KC reg and all the rest of it...so his weight should be within 'acceptable' limits..
That said, one of my old staffs, also of excellent pedigree was absolutely massive at Spike's age and went on to stand 20" at the shoulder, which is bigger than breed standard, although he was perfectly proportioned...his temperament was all wrong for showing though (a little bit errrr...'challenging'!)..
There seems to be so much variation in them, and so many with unknown backgrounds, particularly a few generations back, that the best thing is simply to make sure you feed them, exercise them and love them...

Eccles was 11.5kg when I last weighed him at about 18weeks. When I put the information into an estimator it says he is on course to be an average male adult weight of about 17kg but he seems a bit on the heavy side going by posts here.

17kg is about right or slightly light for a male.

It's not too much of an issue with feeding whilst young as long as they are burning off the energy. When older it can become problematic if they aren't working the calories off though.

Hes definitely not overweight now, I'm just a bit concerned he is going to be a lot bigger than I thought! He's not a pure breed, we got him from Dogs Trust who just found him straying so don't even know what the mother looked like. He is very Staffy looking though isn't he?
