Meals per day?
Lucy is 10 months old and over the last 2 months her meal intake has gone from 2.5 meals a day down to only wanting a very small portion at 11am and her main meal at 5.30pm -ish. I don't think it will be long before she is only wanting her evening meal.
Does this sound too young?
She is fed on raw.

Re: Meals per day?
I'll be interested in the replies to your question Sue as I have exactly the same 'concern' with my 10 mth old boy Milo albeit he's on Arden Grange Pup/Junior mixed with a little Pedigree Puppy tinnned meat. Sometimes he won't even sniff at his morning quota

Re: Meals per day?
My puppy is the same at 8 months but ever since we got him he has never been a big eater. I will put his food down in a morning which he may have a little nibble at but not much. Same again in the evening. It's quite rare he will eat even a full bowl a day

Re: Meals per day?
Lucy has no trouble with her evening meal -1lb of raw mince.
But I'm wondering if this large amount all at once will be stretching her stomach at such a young age ?

Re: Meals per day?
I'm interested in the thought of raw food but always seems a bit complicated...if it's just mince then that'd be great. Does she have anything else Sue?

Re: Meals per day?
I think that sounds fine Hun, let her set the pace. Darcy is nearly two and always ate at 8am and 5pm in the last months she's started eating her breakfast at 12 and her tea at 7pm or just eating one meal per day. Xx

Re: Meals per day?
Hi Niffer
I never thought I would be giving my dog raw meat and still have a large bag of Orijen complete which I don't think I will ever use.
Lucy doesn't have the big bones to chew but her chicken mince has chicken bones included. I feed her on a mixture of chicken, beef and tripe mince with an occasional egg thrown in.
Her coat is lovely and shiny and I have no trouble whats-so-ever with her refusing to eat.
I'll message you with her diet if that is ok it will be a lot easier that way?
"Sorry it doesn't seem that I can message you ?

Re: Meals per day?
I get it from Jays Animal Food. Its a small company in South Yorkshire, you will find them on facebook.
There is no delivery service, customers have to collect their meat. Its worth while for us because we only live 15 minutes away. (1lb of mince is only 45p whether its chicken, beef or tripe)
I should have also mentioned that I give Lucy par-cooked veg which I mash and add to her meat. She loves broccoli and carrots and when I don't include veg I add an whole egg.
Lucy will still have the option to eat in the morning " she usually lets me know by putting her paw on my lap and licking her lips Today she wanted something to eat at 11am so I gave her sardines in sunflower oil.

That's excellent. You're lucky to have Jays near you - I would definitely give it serious thought if we had that kind of service in Leicestershire. I do give Milo a raw egg now and again maybe once a week into his dry food & he loves it. I keep my own hens so it's handy. He found an egg in the garden when we first had him and he ate the lot including the shell. I've not tried the veg idea so may try it. Many thanks Suzie
