No details on the breed yet but see that the child was not at her home address and the two 'adults' have been arrested for child neglect. Sad sad news when will people learn

Oh no that's awful breed not known as yet but no doubt a suspected bull breed otherwise it wouldn't be reported.

I did wonder if not because they haven't used the 'suspected bull breed' phrase but I did hear one news report mention that they were assessing for banned breed
Mind you the case near me last year was quite well reported, that was a jack russell biting a newborn to the head

Re: Another baby killed as a result of a dog attack
I agree Steve there are so many questions to be asked about this story a child should never be left with ANY dog my kids are older so this doesn't apply to me but if they were younger they would never be left alone with any dog. Xx

I wonder how the child was related to the people if at all, they were not the childs parents, "The baby was not at her home address when she was attacked". All very odd.

It does sound like a very odd story some things don't really make sense! Sad none the less, I can't believe some people!

Sounds like they are the mum and her partner but not the baby's dad?
Oh, they are now saying its was a 'pit bull type'.

American pit bull type they are saying atm, if not in own home maybe pack order came into play who knows,
they are also saying there have been warning about this dog before, ripped cat apart, always aggressive in his yard, but as always we do not know the circumstances and probably never will
sleep well little angel xx

Re: Another baby killed as a result of a dog attack
Awaiting more info, could be a single bite rather than a 'mauling' a dog of that assumed size and power has the potential of instantly lethal damage and from what I have read she died in hospital and the dog not being destroyed on the scene suggests it was calm on police arrival

Re: Another baby killed as a result of a dog attack
Sad news. RIP to the little girl
This was in the next but 1 street from me. Have loads of friends who know them but I don't know who they are. I do know however the dog is not an American pitt as stated.
Yeah think Sazzle is right. It was the mum and her partner that lived with the little girl when it happened.
I have a few friends and I have a pic of the dogs dad. You can decide what breed it is

Yep that's what everyone here thinks.
Loads of people have had their dogs took off them lately and one person got told that the police did tests and said it was an American pitbull. The owners solicitor asked oh so you have had full blood tests done then which the police replied well no. Seems at the moment that they have imaginary tests done here and 100% are pits.

Re: Another baby killed as a result of a dog attack
there no test it may meet the measurements but that doesn't mean it an pitbull.... it be class as "type" even you hasve a type dog you can get it back if it's friendly
i know people are breeding american bulldog with staffy or bull terrier to get similar looking dogs

Re: Another baby killed as a result of a dog attack
It only has to be 51% banned breed to be certified as 'type' and I think 'pitbull' is the most ambiguous 'breed'
Trouble is people are cross breeding to get a look and are selling them as pit bulls, it doesn't take long for people to believe they have pits when they are I.e. Am bulldog or labs crossed with staffys that look then becomes what the general public associate with what they think the breed looks like

Re: Another baby killed as a result of a dog attack
Yeah allot can get them back but with restrictions e.g tattoo and must wear a muzzle etc but each dog will dost at least 2.5k to get back.
There are cases in Blackburn recently were the dog was of sound mental state yet still unable to get them back

Not sure. Plenty of rumours as you can imagine.

Re: Another baby killed as a result of a dog attack
i think you have pass record of doing anything dodgy then you dont have much chance of getting your dog back even if your dog is friendly...
Re: Another baby killed as a result of a dog attack
If a dog of any breed, type or cross attacks and kills a human baby then whether the child's parents were married, together, or not; and whether the child was at its own home or not, is immaterial.
Any dog, from Chihuahua to Great Dane, that has attacked and killed a defenceless human baby must be destroyed.
