allergic reaction - big time!
noticed a couple of lumps on woodys rib cage last night and he seemed out of sorts but went to bed as normal - thought i'll check them out in the morning and if he is no better i'll take him to the vets. well got up this morning to a sight of an alien dog! he had about 2 dozen MASSIVE big lumps all over his face and body - we are talking the size of eggs wiht some of them! i whizzed him straight to the vets as they opened at 8am only to be told no vet til 10am - whats the point in opening if there is no vet in??????
anyways i went back at 10am and of course they had gone down a bit but the vet could still see it- he has had an allergic reaction to something, we dont know what so now ive got to keep a beady eye on where he is/what he is doing/what he is eating at all times so we can try to pinpoint the issue. 1 steriod injection and a course of antihistemines he is starting to resemble my gorgeous little boy again!

Aww poor boy what a shock for you, I know Steve almost lost one of his to a sting last year, its something to really be aware of this time of year and you can carry anthetmins (spelling) like piriton to give them, its worth doing cause you don't know when you can get to the vets, and well if you can , when the vets are there!!! Glad he is ok though, sending woody hugs x x

thatnks janey - yeh i couldnt spell it either, yeh just in case he is going to react again i may ask the vets to give me a course to have in stock. they said if it starts to affect the breathing can be really bad. he's being really cuddly tonight and thats not like him at all!

Poor little fella! Hope he's a lot better really soon.
You can get Piriton from the local chemists & it'll be a lot cheaper than the vets!

Poor Woody. Hope he's back to his normal self soon.
And hope he does'nt have another bad reaction to anything. If he does, i certainly hope you are able to identify what causes it so you can be alart and aware in future.
Roxy says "woof-woof-woof" Translation....get better Woody

Yes it's fine. I was told by a vet that you start off by giving half a tablet (try cutting one - they're so small it's unbelievable!) and if you don't see an improvement in about half an hour give the other half.
There's nothing in them that's nasty for dogs, they just inhibit the over production of Histamine. The effects only last a few hours at most - just long enough to combat whatever has caused the allergic reaction.

he's fine today thanks. just gotta keep an eye out now for any more appearing and work out what it was.
was quite an amusing discussion with the vet- vet " has woody eaten anything different". me " who knows as he walks with his mouth attached to the floor scooping things up as he walks". Vet " ok then, erm is there any chance he has had something new". me - "erm yes very possibly"!
