Re: weeing in crate at night
I can't help with this one I'm afraid as I have never used a crate, but I'm sure someone more knowledgable will be along soon to help you.

Re: weeing in crate at night
Must be frustrating but I haven't used a crate either so not much help. My only suggestion would to try a wee break at night back to basics Xx

Yes that's what I was thinking too, try getting up in the middle of the night to let her out, assuming she is dry then, leave it a little later each night until she's going all the way through :-)

Re: weeing in crate at night
thanks guys, was thinking I my need to get up in the night to let her out. I would like to point out she is not crated a lot, I work 4 hours 2/3 days a week and is crated at night, the only reason I crate her is due to living in a rented house and I can't have her chewing things. I walk her everyday or she potters around the stables with me. I'm awake at 7 everyday and feed her pretty much as soon as I get up then around 5 in the evening. Thanks for the help x

Re: weeing in crate at night
Lorna, if you're having problems with her chewing things, spray White Vinegar on whatever she goes for. I brought an empty spray bottle, put white vinegar in there and sprayed things like skirting boards, door frames etc, everything that Zeus went for, and it worked almost instantaneously. Would definitely recommend it, Zeus has never gone for anything since.lorna423 wrote:thanks guys, was thinking I my need to get up in the night to let her out. The dog won't know anything on a morning Trevor and would just react to your mood , good or bad , not able to associate it with an accident from ages ago even if it is right under their noseTrevor wrote:When we was movin our dog out the main room at night she would we on her bed .....wen speakin to the vet they recommended putting toys wit her and then giving her a treat wen we got up in mornin ...incase she was lookin at it as a punishment

Re: weeing in crate at night
Ok. Have you been getting up during the night?
What about putting her in the crate, but leaving the door open. If she is inclined to chew chairs etc, smear some Vicks Vapour Rub over the surfaces - they usually won't touch it. To start with, you could shut the door when she goes in at night (10 or 11pm ish) and then get up briefly to let her out at about 3am. When she goes back in her crate pull the door over, but don't shut it completely. If she's good with that for a month then you can try leaving the door open right from the start.
