My pup doesnt like the lead and refuses to walk,we bought an extension lead to clip onto the harness and the results was instant (no need for treats),he loves it,my advice would be to keep the lead long for him to run about providing you in safe areas and from time to time shorting the lead to a normal lead length to get him use to it,then some point in the future get him a normal lead.

Im not a fan of collars, broxi has never wore one in his life harness's are much better for control and comfort for your dog and they look better aswell.

The big problem with that is that the law states that your dog must have on a correctly fitted collar with an id tag at all times in public. If you only use a harness, even if you have an id tag on it, then you are breaking the law, and with the hysteria surrounding staffords at the moment, you don't want to be found to be flouting the law.
