After seeing a post on here about a inbreeding coefficient it got me thinking about Zoey.

I started off with some great news that her Dad Sire Buster So Blue is low on the scale with 2% so i was fairly happy. As with breed average being 7% i thought that was very good.

But then i looked up Mum and saw that Dam Crisp Frosty Winter is up at a whopping 28% which is obviously very high.

This then means Zoey is 19% inbred and its a bit worrying. Both parents were health checked so I'm not too worried about that. (i know KC has no records of tests but i was shown test results on viewing the pups.)

So my main question is this 19% high is this something i should be worried about? as after watching the BBC documentary into dog inbreeding and the damage its doing 19% seems like a big number to me.

Why does the kennel club have no record of the tests? That's not right... 19 % is high but you will just have to keep an eye on things, hopefully she will be ok Smile

Generally inbreeding is not approved of but there are 2 sides to it , the line breeding that is done by skilled and educated breeders for the good of the breed , a science to this but still a practice that we need to get out of , and then there is just plain ignorance because it is easy to use the dogs around you . If you can give us pups KC name then we can look into it further and perhaps put your mind at rest a little
