8 month old staffy worries
We have a few worries about our 8 month old pup. At bedtime he seems to fight sleep and can get himself worked up. He likes to chew/ suck daughter duvet so we have now given him her old dressing gown to suck. We are also trying to follow the same routine at bedtime for him. He does like to be off his lead during his walk chasing a ball or playing with other dogs. He has been known to run over to strange dogs to play with them, usually he comes back when called. Tonight he had to b called 3 times before he returned. He was put back on his lead. He has also started to chew anything and everything he can get hold off. I'm sure the chewing is for attention because when we are out he doesn't do it
We are just concerned about his behaviour at the moment. He was castrated last month. So any tips would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: 8 month old staffy worries
Hi ya Angela, welcome to the forum
8 months is still young and he's still learning but rest assured you will get there. Has he lost all his puppy teeth yet ? If not this could be the reason for the chewing and a frozen wet tea towel is ideal for soothing sore gums.
It really can't be overstated how important recall is for us Staffy owners. Whatever you've been using as a reward, substitute it fior a really high value treat now to reinforce. Small pieces of frankfurter are a favourite.
When you get a min, pop over to this link and say Hi to everyone:-

Could also be the teenage phase and asserting his authority until you are confident he will come back when called try a long training line

When Bo only takes three times to recall I'll throw a party.
