Inbreeding Coefficient
Hi , how do you find out what the percentage COI is. I have looked on Busters pedigree on the SBT register and can see his parents g/parents etc but it does`nt tell you the percentage of COI. His ped name is Virtutis Artful Dodging.
Thanks
Paul
Thanks

He comes out at 9% , a little over the breed average

Re: Inbreeding Coefficient
I suspect this result is due to planned line breeding rather than careless interbreeding , it is still becoming undesirable in this day and age but unless the champion dogs are just stopped and we start afresh with clean , unknown dogs then we have to start somewhere. (My boy came from relatively lesser known dogs in the last generation or 2 so comes out at only 1.8% )
Just been looking at his ped on Stamtavler and there are quite a few champions in there and some really beautiful looking dogs and a few familiar names

Thanks for that Dave I had looked at his pedigree and noticed the same name once or twice. He`s a lovely dog and its useful to know. I wonder how they work out the COI as his mothers is 3% and his fathers is 7% both low to ave but busters is as you say 9%.

Re: Inbreeding Coefficient
I've been having a look and its interesting ( sorry I'm being nosey but I love Black n Brindles ) Dad was 7% , mum was only 3 % , he comes out at 9% because of the shared lines going back 4 or 5 generations , both Mum and Dad share Valglo Casanova at Crossguns . Generally speaking ( and I am no expert ) when you back through to dogs with Valglo lines you can guarantee some quite high COI's in there , but back in those generations it was deemed as acceptable practice , now it is more frowned uponpaul l wrote:Thanks for that Dave I had looked at his pedigree and noticed the same name once or twice. IF you were to ever let your dog stud , then to produce some beautiful pups with low COI then you must avoid the Valgo lineage that you see here or you would end up increasing the COI again rather than lowering it
Now Tilly is admiring his picture, she has an eye for the toyboys , I think she might be in Luuuuuuurve
For your boy from Tilly ( unfortunately she has no papers so I could never even guess at her COI, she's neutered and my Princess )

Re: Inbreeding Coefficient
He's an absolutely cracking looking dog you should be very proud . It's always great when you get the comments. Tilly just had it from day 1 as she has the love me face , Tommy gets quite a lot too as there are not so many reds around herepaul l wrote:She`s lovely and she looks like Buster.
