What is he coughing up?
Twice in the last week Ledger has woken at about 6am and he coughs up this (sounds like a cat hacking a hair ball)
this one is about 3x size of the first, it's a solid stuff like a mini babybel he is fine in himself otherwise and doesn't cough anything up in that day I just don't know what this is can't think of anything that he could have eaten and normally if he eats something that doesn't agree he throws up straight away

I couldn't begin to guess Jules , maybe put it into a bag as a reference and pop him down the vets for a chat

He sleeps on my bed and no damage found, I picked him up from my parents at 4am after work so will have to check if there is anything in their garden that it could be as he would have been there before the last time and there was no mention of him doing it at his dog holiday sleepover trial Saturday morning and he slept on the bed there so she would have known
Without thinking I flushed it away but found the piece from the other day in the bin (the things we do for our dogs) will see if i get another present when i come back from nights in the morning then try and get to the vets

Re: What is he coughing up?
They have said if he is the same in himself, no change to appetite and toilet habits then they don't think that there is a worry enough to see him today
Just suggested a rice and chicken diet for a couple days and to contact them later in the week if it continues

I wondered if it was bile but it's solid! He has tea at 5pm and last walk about 9pm
I am collecting the bits so will take them in if there are more tomorrow

Re: What is he coughing up?
Looks like bile to me. Have you tried pulling the lumps apart to check for anything inside? As strange as it sounds, it could be that he's managed to get hair/fluff/rope toy string in his stomach.

Re: What is he coughing up?
Yep pulled it apart to see, its the texture of a babybel cheese and the same all the way though so far
Well he has had a cooked chicken breast for tea and cooked up some brown rice for when I settle him before work instead of giving him a chew or peanut butter in a kong

Re: What is he coughing up?
Strange! You've done the right thing in regards to his diet. Hopefully that will clear it up. Hope he feels better soon!

Re: What is he coughing up?
Well he had chicken and rice Monday and all was clear Tuesday morning,
It was agility last night so he had the left over garlic sausage from training and just a handful of dry food and all good again this morning
Fingers crossed it was just a random blip but will keep a close eye for the next few weeks just in case
