Re: nails too short
not really no, the quick naturally recedes as the nails are worn away, as long as the quick isn't exposed then they are fine

Re: nails too short
When the nails grow so does the quick (Painful bit) and the same applies when they are grinded down the quick shrinks so can never see you getting to the point of it becomming painful

Re: nails too short
Lola and Chloe's claws are quite long, looking at them this morning - about a quarter of an inch protruding. Is that too much? They're aren't half sharp when I get an accidental face paw! They usually run only in wood/beach/field although to get there there's a bit of pavement walking but not much. I'd never thought of clipping them. I don't think I would dare though, I think I'll ask the vet if he thinks they need clipping.

Re: nails too short
I've never clipped darcy's and they're fine, the vet has done her dew claws though, I'd be terrified of cutting the quick great advice above

Re: nails too short
Just take a little bit off at a time. I love the white nails as you can see the quick on them
I do both walking on paths and fields/woods so Blues files themselves down

Re: nails too short
Chiquitos nails wear down through walking ... which is good, as they are black and I am not willing to cut them!! The vet does his dew claws as needed each time I go in
