Lola has come on loads from the dog that wouldnt move off the door step to pulling the lead really hard. Whats the best way to teach her not to pull. I looked for the topic but couldnt find anything.

Re: Help with walking
Hi Harry
Do you use a harness? This can give you a lot more control, however I purchased a 'Canny Collar' for a while and it worked miracles. Search it above ^^ and you will find some related topics. Im now back to just using a harness and he walks like an angel.

You can buy them on Amazon - http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=canny+collar&tag=googhydr-21&index=aps&hvadid=8295780969&hvpos=1t1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1685051108582490362&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&hvdev=c&ref=pd_sl_4hn3ypkqf1_b

Re: Help with walking
At her age it's fairly easy to teach her to walk nicely & it doesn't really matter whether you use a head collar, ordinary collar or a harness, just have plenty of treats with you.
As soon as she starts to pull ahead say "Heel" or whatever word you want to use, and immediately turn & walk the other way. She obviously has to turn around & go with you. The second she reaches your side say "Heel" again & turn back the other way again. This time, as she reaches your side tell her she's a good girl & give her a treat. If you do that every time she pulls ahead she'll soon learn that going ahead gets her nowhere!
Wherever you go, though (at least until she has learned not to pull) walk briskly so that she doesn't have time to think about what you're doing, she just has to follow you.

Re: Help with walking
Great advice from Caryll! Can't really add to it but can say that is what I did with Gwen and now (she is almost 7 months old) she walks great on the lead! It does take time and patience but she is so young and it sounds like she is doing wonderfully and making great progress! Keep up the good work.
