As I am going back to work, Bella will need a walk during the day, So how much would you pay and what would you look for in a dog walker for 5 days walking?

My mum walks Moo for me and my best mate has her as well.

My walker charges £10 an hour but will do £15 for 2 hours. She doesn't walk loads of dogs at a time though.

Do some research with walkers, your vets can usually point you in the right direction. Xx

It depends what area you live in. Sorry that's not very helpful. Straight Face Round here its about £10 an hour.
I work full time and I walk Romeo, I wouldn't trust anyone else with him, not even my mum. None of them understand his body language.

I don't think I'd trust anyone with Suki but your vet should be able to recommend someone

Tasha has had the same walker for 15years and it costs £7 an hour now but she is usually away from 1.30 until 5pm having great fun. Sisko and Kassidy had a walker who was paid £15 an hour to walk just the two of them but as his work load increased he added more dogs and ended up with problems. No other walkers here will walk staffies and i stopped sending them after he wanted to muzzle them . Ask if they are insured because some pet insurers only cover the dog if it is with it's owner.

The missus here. Please be really careful.

There is a local company we have reported to the local council. they claim to be professional dog walkers yet they take up to six dogs at a time and leave three loose in the back of the van whilst they walk the first three in the woods.

We have a friend who lives where they park their van adjacent to the woods and she has heard the poor dogs what sounds like scrapping in the back of the van.

I just hope the council do a proper investigation and remove their licence if they are meant to have one. I would ask round for a personal recommendation. Don't just go for what looks like a local firm without getting a number of testamonies Wink

Personally would not trust a walker as I have seen to many in our area on our daily walks and dont like what I see. On the other hand, they do seem to charge a lot less than you are paying in the UK. I would happily pay more than that for the right person.

I would also be very careful about who you trust. Do you research first ask around other dog walkers in your local park and listen to any recommendations. May be worth talking to your local dog warden too.

Judging from what has been posted, I think you should ask for and increase Big Grin

LOL Lynne, Im the biggest wimp on the planet (I'm scared of heights, spides, clowns and going upstairs by myself, thats how much of a wimp I am:D) I used to walk her as a proper job but since Ive started secondary school I usually have piles of homework after school on top of tennis on a saturday, going to my dads on a friday, going to visit my grandparents and doing everything I need to do (such as pracice guitar, revise for tests etc) I just walk her sometimes now. Sometimes I do it by myself as my old friend wont do it any more but sometimes I do it with my friend Megan who lives Millie and Tina and even then we still only get two pound between us. but I darent ask because I dont walk her every day Big Grin

I pay £11.50 for Harry to be walked for an hour by a lovely lady who keeps a key to my house in case of an emergency. She has been walking him since he was 8 weeks old and walks him alone, although she walks a lot of other dogs in the area. I find this a very good arrangement if I want to go out for longer than 4 hours and I totally trust her.

I'm a dog walker, I've been running my business for over 7 years. Always look for someone who is fully insured to walk your dog and that it covers any damage they do to your property, coverage for keys and third party as well as your dog, be aware that if you allow them to let your dog off lead that your dog will probably not be insured under their insurance. Prices vary nationwide so i'll not go into that. Ask around at vets and in local parks... most dog walkers are well known and either respected or not. I personally only ever take dogs from the same house, I don't take groups (unless from same household) that way I can concentrate fully on those in my care. I keep it personal and friendly and the dogs health n welfare are always top. Go with what you feel and make sure they do the little things to like water bowls and wiping wet feet etc... Good luck, Claire Smile
