How much is too much walking!
Just a quick one,
Kaos is 12 weeks tomorrow, well 2 hrs lol.
I've been walking her for 20minutes in the morning around 7am, and then again 20mins about 7/8pm. Every one I ask says different things, some say no more than 20 mins a day, other say the more the merrier.
I know her bones and what not are still developing, but Kaos must be the most energised dog I've ever known. She is constant running about the house, bashing into everything, and even with those little walks her energy levels are unaltered.
How much does anybody else walk there pup?

Re: How much is too much walking!
as a rule i normal would walk a pup 5 mins for every month of age so 20mins=4month 40mins=8months so on then after 1year old 45mins to hour twice a day

I agree with Bigwazza above, this amount of time is about just right.

Re: How much is too much walking!
It also depends on what sort of exercise you're giving her. Lead walking should be kept down to 5 minutes per month of age (or 1 minute per week). However, you could give her a 7 minute walk on lead to a park and then let her run around off lead for 10 - 15 minutes, rest for a few minutes & then walk back for 7 minutes.
Off lead exercise is very important for strengthening the muscles that support the joints. Pups will self-regulate & take occasional breathers so that they don't tire themselves out, but lead walking is different. They tend to carry on walking even when they are tired & you could end up over stretching the growth plates & tendons.

Agree with above. Mental activity like training or searching for treats will help with her excess energy as well

mental stimulation will help with her hyper activity indoors, but physically i think she is getting enough.
