Pooping in Cage
Hi Guys & Happy New Year!
Sox is almost 10 months old now & he's great, love him to bits! , however Tuesday morning I came down to a dirty cage !!! Sox has never pooped in his cage before so I am really concerned by this behaviour It happend again Wednesday morning to!
We have all returned to work after the christmas break & I'm guessing he has got used to us all being around & he's upset that he's now left alone again? I'm lucky enough to be able to go home at lunchtime to take him for a mini walk & give him cuddles & we have never had a problem before ..... do I need to be worried (as I am)?
Upon discovering the mess in his cage, I said "No! Naughty boy!" and put him in the garden whilst I cleaned it. Sox knew he'd done a bad thing as he scurried off into a corner of the garden & sat there unable to look at me
After it was cleaned I put his food down & he sniffed it but never ate it (he always eats as soon as I put his food down).
Any advice would be greatly appreciated guys

Happy new year hun
I wouldn't be worried, his routine changed and he is also at the teenage stage where they can be testing!
Personally I wouldn't scold him, as you said he knows he has done wrong, just clean it thoroughly and as a guess its most likely a little phase Xx

Re: Pooping in Cage
How id he now?
I'm afraid you made rather a bad mistake when you told him off for messing in his crate. He wouldn't have known what you're telling him off for - dogs don't relate to things in that way. You probably told him off for wagging his tail & being pleased to see you. The reason he scurried off was because he was worried & confused. That could also be why he didn't eat his breakfast.
I think it's one of two things, one is that, as you say, the routine over Christmas changed & then changed back again & he was 'put out', or two he has a bit of a dodgy tum & couldn't hold it in long enough.
