Again, looking past the ear's ... I'm sorry but I dont understand your comments above Gem ?
He looks VERY well balanced to me and in simply amazing shape, what exactly is "over eggagerated" on him ? .. this is how I think a true APBT should look ...

Re: real pitbull
Fantastic looking dogs, but again, I hate the ears on the pitbull. I see no reason at all for chopping off bits of flesh.

Re: real pitbull
A bit off topic, but I thought Wilson and Piper were Pit Bull mixes and Sako was an AmStaff? I know it's mean, but I've never really liked Sako's look. I feel like he doesn't have much of a stop and his face is really elongated. I dunno, he just looks "off" to me.
The first two dogs in this thread were both good looking dogs. It's really too bad that, despite the fact that the breed standard says that natural ears are preferred, champion AKC AmStaffs and UKC APBTs usually have cropped ears. Most ADBA APBT champions have natural ears, though, which is nice to see!

tartan wrote:Ella can you explain to me why my post was removed?
because this thread isn't about cropped ears or the operation whatever to do with them, so i removed them.
Your more then welcome to start a new topic on them, but this isn't about ears.

Re: real pitbull
So my input into a healthy debate was decided to be unneeded?
I was simply agreeing with Caryll, like alot of others, but obviously it was out of line.
My post referred to the cropping of ears being 'an unnecessary evil'!!
There are lots of threads that go off topic and people air their views, is this not what a forum is for?

Re: real pitbull
I'm not arguing yours isn't the only post deleted and this thread is NOT about ear cropping.
Guest- Guest
Re: real pitbull
I am not arguing but it is clear to see that other posts still remain regarding the issue yet mine was deleted. This is what I found rather annoying. I accept that it is off topic but if you are going to delete posts that people have spent the time writing then delete all posts relating to ear cropping, not just some.
I just feel it is a bit dictorial to do this!
I am stating my opinion, not arguing.

Here is a picture of Sako with a couple of AKC ribbons:ella wrote:no wilson and piper pit mixes and sako a pit
He can only be shown at an AKC show if he is an AmStaff. He may very well be dual registered as an AKC AmStaff and a UKC APBT, I don't know for sure. I DO know that he IS an AmStaff.

He must be duel registered then as she has always said he's a pit and not amstaff

Hi Andy Im sorry I cant see past the ears so for me the first dog has a better head, cutting its ears off has made it stronger ears play a huge part in balance. I wonder why thats the reason its done to eggagerate the head and make it look stronger. I prefare head no 1 cant help it . No doubting the dog is in amazing condition and fit as a fiddle just wish they wouldnt do that to there ears.

Hi Guys,
I just came across this site while searching some photos on Google. Andy, thanks for liking Earl so much I appreciate it. Wow, Gem you’re the first person to call my dog Earl a mess. Worst yet you’re basing your statement on your dislike of cropped ears. If you weren’t so blinded by that issue you would see a dog that is 12pts away from his ADBA Championship. You would also see a dog that is very well balanced, very athletic, moves unbelievably and is very well conditioned. Just an FYI Earl has achieved so far his CGC, ADBA Safe Dog 1, CSAU, URO1 and is a certified Therapy Dog. I’ve attached a few more photo of Earl and his butchered ears.
Cheers,
Earl & Poison Ivy

Re: real pitbull
Personally, I think your dog is gorgeous. Ignoring the issues people have with the ears and looking at the dog as a whole, he seems a very well proportioned, fit and healthy boy. Lovely colour as well!

Re: real pitbull
Thanks everyone for the nice complements on Earl. I usually stay off most forums, but this was the first time anyone has called Earl a mess. Look, I understand Game Bred dogs aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but if you’re going to make such a strong comment you should have some understanding of the breeds standard. It’s also rather ignorant to make such a statement off of one photo of the dog standing on a rock. I’ll be showing Earl this weekend at the ADBA show in Las Vegas Nevada here in the States. One of the Judges is Gary Hammonds. Gary also does not like cropped ears, but he also understands good confirmation. Every time I show Earl under Gary he always makes a disparaging remark regarding Earl’s ears, but Earl has never placed lower than 2nd under Gary.
Cheers,
Cheers,
Re: real pitbull
Def not a mess, one of the better examples I've seen personally. Supremely healthy looking, balanced and strong. Cropped ears is a very hot topic in the UK and sometimes ends up with comments disregarding the dog in general.
I also see you updated your pics with your girl Poison Ivy, she is totally beautiful also. You should stick around here, there are a lot of real pitbull lovers here. Many of us dream of owning a dog like that!

Re: real pitbull
A lot of people here don't like cropped ears, so I think that makes them judge the dog as a whole. Personally, I don't agree with ears being cropped, but your dogs' ears look neat, some dogs with cropped ears do look like they've been done horribly. Anyway, ignoring that, they're both absolutely stunning dogs

I understand that some people do not like cropped ears, but what kind of fool dismisses the entire dog because of it's ears? That's just asinine! I show under the ADBA and the head & neck are only worth 15pts. The standard states Ears- no preference should be given to cropped or uncropped ears, except to enhance the overall attractiveness of the individual dog. With that said the ear are a very, very small part of the overall confirmation of the dog. By the way Tara thank you very much for the compliment on Earl and Poison Ivy. Wish me luck I'm off to Vegas for a weekend of Dog Shows!!!

Well, from a non-expert point of view, it's just the fact that if they're so against cropped ears, they may be so fixated on the ears that they can't admire the rest of the dog. Good luck in your dog shows, feel free to keep us updated, we'd love to see/hear more from you and Earl and Poison Ivy
