chocking/coughing please help
Hi everyone not been on in a while
rocko recentley has started chocking/coughing at first i put it down to eating grass so wasnt to worried untill 2 days ago now hes doing it between 2/3 times a day he can be asleep and does it or just playing about,
I google it and it says it could be kennel cough or a heart condition rocko doesn't socialize with oter dogs to get kennel cough.
all advice would be great as I'm one very worried freaked out mummy.

Re: chocking/coughing please help
He could still get kennel cough even though he doesn't come into contact with other dogs although it could be a number of other things including lungworm.
I'd take him to the vets if I were you; make sure you tell them he may have kennel cough when you make the appointment as they may want see you out of hours or ask you to wait with him outside

Where did you go camping ?
Maybe an idea to check this area for any viral diseases.

Re: chocking/coughing please help
Maybe an idea to mention this to the vet they should know of anything happening throughout the UK.
Just jot things down on a note pad to mention to them that way you wont forget anything. Thats what I do.

Re: chocking/coughing please help
Sounds like kennel cough, i work in a vets and over the past 2 months we have seen a couple of cases a day. Never seen a case of lungworm in 10 yrs of working for vets so is unlikely, they generally become quite unwell with it aswell. Nothing to worry about as long as there are no other symptoms, the cough lasts about 7 days, the vet may prescribe a couple of days antibiotics.

took my boy to vets got they don't think its kennel cough or anything to worry about they says it could be eating too fast and bits of food getting lodged in his throat done an xray and he was clear. so going to not give him any bones or chew sticks for a week or so and see how he gets on. thankyou for advice ooh and they took blood test get results next week. the worry this little one causes me.

They are all worth every penny you spend , evry minute they take up and all the heartache they can cause , just to see that little face every day
