My puppy won't eat dry food
Could i give my 5 month old pup a wet food diet, He refuses to eat his Burns dry food mixed with natures diet but will eat natures diet on its own within 30 seconds. I've tried picking it up after 10 mins and he still leaves it after 2 days, But eats the meat so i don't think he's ill just being very fussy. Iv'e tried him on james wellbelloved as well and he does the same thing. So i want to know if theres a good all tinned or pouches that he would be ok on without any dry food. As soon as he sees any dry food in his bowl he puts his ears back and hides. Very strange but hes always been fussy and gradually got worse

Wet food is not as good for their teeth as it causes a lot of plaque. Have you ever considered raw? Usually dogs that don't like kibble LOVE raw.

I really wouldn't go down that route if you can help it. Wet food is around 70 - 80% water so you have to feed more, increasing the risks of bloat, and it's really not good for their teeth.
He may not like the taste/smell, so try something different. Fish4dogs are good, it smells of fish so it's different for your dog; it's abit more expensive than, say, James Wellbeloved, but it doesn't have loads of fillers in it so you actually need to feed less to get the desired results in your dog.
Either that, or try the raw feeding route.

I sometimes add raw egg or sardines to make the diet a little more varied

Re: My puppy won't eat dry food
If he is just being picky you could try leaving the food down for 15 minutes and than removing it. I wouldn't do this too often because of his age. Wet food isn't really a good idea for overall nutrition or for his teeth.
As a compromise you could add a little wet food to the dry for flavour so he will be more likely to eat.

That's already being done, & just the wet gets eaten.

Well i tried the james wellbeloved fish flavor and he just left that. I don't know what to do with him it's really getting annoying now. It looks like the wet food isn't recommended but i don't have a clue about a raw diet

No, no, the fish4dogs is very different from the fish flavoured feed. You can get a small, trail bag from fish4dogs website if you want to give it a go but don't want to waste your money on a large bag.
Have you considered raw?

A raw diet seems complicated when you first start, but actually it becomes easier as you go on & is a very satisfying diet for a dog. If you do want to know more, let us know & we'll point you in the right direction!

How about crushing up some of his dry food before u mix it with a little wet, sounds strange, but i`ve known this to work with a friend of mine.

Re: My puppy won't eat dry food
Dempsey won't touch dry food of any sort. The only one he'll eat (and even that's as treats, not main food) is fish4dogs.

Re: My puppy won't eat dry food
Taking it up after 10/15 minutes won't work if you're mixing wet in as (like he is doing) he'll just eat the wet and leave the dry.
You need to decide what you want to feed him, either all wet or all dry, or raw.
Wainwrights trays are a good wet and wet certainly isn't bad as long as you brush his teeth or feed something like a few raw chicken thighs a week to keep his teeth clean. (You still need to do that if you feed dry, just less often.)
Otherwise, pick the best dry you can afford and go with the leaving it down for 10/15 minutes then taking it up again. If it's just dry in there and he's not getting anything else he'll soon start eating it.

Re: My puppy won't eat dry food
This has probably already been mentioned but have you tried mixing just a little cooked cooled chicken with the kibble? This is how I got Rocky eating all his dinner to begin with. He now just has a little chicken mixed with it occasionally.

Re: My puppy won't eat dry food
As caryll said, raw can be confusing but you get it delivered and give whatever weight is needed. Ella has a post on what she feeds her boys and it shows everything in a really simple manner. i would love to feed raw but just not able to commit to it cause me and dad both feed lexi and my dad wouldnt feed raw

Thanks for all your replys, At the min i'm just feeding all wet and going to slowly bring back kibble bit by bit and hope for the best. Its what the pet shop advised me to do. And she also said i could give him scrambled egg for breakfast ? Is that ok?

Scrambled egg's fine.
I think if you go down the road of all wet, you'll have problems adding the kibble. Wet food is highly flavoured & smells (horrible) more, so he might just pick out the wet & ignore the kibble.
