food to mix in puppy food
hello everyone i feed my 4 month pup royal canin and was wondering what foods i could add to it a few times a week to give him variety? I guess these complete foods are all they need unless they have a condition or illness but was just wondering. I have seen people feed their dogs types of fish and raw eggs? how often. he is obviously very interested in our food but i never feed him from my plate or from the dinner table but any crumbs and he goes mad!

Re: food to mix in puppy food
I give lola sardines and raw eggs a couple of times a week. Also table scraps. Just no onions or garlic.

I was giving Jasmine sardines, till at puppy training class they handed out a booklet, part of which was about feeding advice, which said you shouldn't give puppies sardines????
Is this right? As I know a lot of people on here do x

I have chickens... by giving my puppy a raw egg will that make her more likely to try to get into our chicken coop?

Re: food to mix in puppy food
I highly doubt it unless you let her see you get the egg from there and break it into the bowl. Honestly, my guess is it won't if you don't show her where it came from. Let her see it come from the fridge and that is where she will think they come from. Besides, being mixed in is like chicken mixed in. They don't know what they don't know.Bexta wrote:I have chickens... by giving my puppy a raw egg will that make her more likely to try to get into our chicken coop?

Re: food to mix in puppy food
Thanks Ben I thought it might be a silly question... but I do have a friend whose dog eats their chicken eggs.
I'll pretend the eggs come from the basket... not the coop! lol

Re: food to mix in puppy food
As above, sardines and eggs are great ... mackerel, salmon oil, meat or vegetable broth also work well

Tip gets an egg mixed into one of her meals every second day. We also cook rice and pet mince once a week for all our dogs.
