biting puppy
Hi all
I've got a slight problem with Zac, he is getting quite aggressive with play and biting sleeves, clothing and hands. If I reprimand him he has started to growl and lunged for me! I think I know why he may be doing it, he has so much energy to burn and can't do it because he is not being walked due to his sore leg. We are not back at the vets until Thursday, and until then its trying to keep him off his leg as much as possible, not easy with a pup! I was wondering if there was another way we could occupy him to channel this energy?
Thanks Irene x

Re: biting puppy
Thanks for the tip Lynne do you mean like hiding Kong and stuff or his toys as well?
I just picked him up and plonked him in the kitchen ... It's his doggy equivalent of the naughty step or time out lol .... I went back after 5 mins and said 'calmed down now have we?' only to find him in his crate chewing his lead, nearly chewed through it too! hmmm 1-0 to Zac x x

Re: biting puppy
we have been told by a the behaviourist we take lottie to not to play tug with her because she does this. if we play tug we loose which lets her think she is fantastic and lets face it i can do without loosing a dog we give her a firm no and distract her with some other toy she can play with. tug games are for her and lemmy not the humans. he is only little though so you should be able to snap him out of it pretty quick and not have too much of a problem. just distract him and hopefully he will stop it

we hid treats under plastic cups and under blankets
That's good - it'll tire his mind & fill his belly! What pup could resist!

Agree with hiding the treats. We do this on rainy days with Suki so she will behave.

Re: biting puppy
When the weather was bad and I didnt take Sasha out for her walk we played a game in the house, one of us would go to another room and call her using the word "come" and just that word so not to confuse her, take a hand full of treats and when she comes she gets a treat..
End result was a tired happy dog who now responds to the come command.
