Think Harry has hurt his throat.
About lunch time today Harry pinched a chocolate biscuit wrapper off my cup and saucer on the coffee table. He tore it in to shreds on the floor and then started to walk away. But then seemed to almost choke, I managed to open his mouth but couldn't see anything. Calmed him down as he was very frightened, large pleading eyes and tail between his legs and shaking. Everything then seemed OK and I assumed he probably swallowed a piece of paper or a few crumbs had gone down the wrong way. He has been for a walk as normal and ate his dinner (JWB Kibble softened with water) as normal, and has had a drink, although he has been a bit more cuddly than usual. Then when I had my evening meal I gave him a bit of meat from a steak and kidney pudding and one of the larger pieces of beef started him off again, although he is ok again now.
I can only think that maybe he has scratched his throat or mouth with the piece of wrapper paper. Anyone any ideas what I can do to soothe it for him. Will try feeding him soft foods tomorrow, maybe scrambled egg for brekkie. Also should I get antibiotics to stop an infection or wait a day or two and see how it goes. I feel so upset and worried for him.

Re: Think Harry has hurt his throat.
I don't think there's much you can do other than wait & see. It sounds like he's either got a bit of wrapper stuck in his throat or he's scratched his throat.
Either way, it'll almost certainly clear itself quite soon. Try not to give him anything 'scratchy' to eat for 24 hours & hopefully he'll be ok at the end of it.

Leave it till tomorrow and see how he is. If he is eating I wouldn't worry, not that that helps cause we always do . bet he is fine by morning Xx

Re: Think Harry has hurt his throat.
Thanks everyone. He is asleep on the sofa with me right now and doesn't seem in any discomfort.
I'm a right worrier where he is concerned and always tend to think of the worst scenario, you know how it is!

Re: Think Harry has hurt his throat.
He seems fine today, no repeat of the choking when eating and he's up to his usual naughtiness so fingers crossed he has got away without any lasting problems.
Thank you for asking about him.
