Puppy Socialization Article
I came across this interesting article about puppy socialization from the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior. I have to admit I thought that in places like the US or the UK, where risks of infectious diseases are a little higher than here, the advice was to isolate puppies until they were fully vaccinated. It's interesting to read that fatalities from poorly socialized dogs are much higher than from things like parvo.

Re: Puppy Socialization Article
I think it's an excellent idea. Socialisation is so important.
Most of the organised socialisation classes round here insist on a puppy having had its 1st set of vaccinations at least 7 days before the first class, and it's interesting to read in the article the same thing....
"In general, puppies can start puppy socialization classes as early as
7-8 weeks of age. Puppies should receive a minimum of one set of vaccines
at least 7 days prior to the first class and a first deworming. They should be kept up-to-date on vaccines throughout the class."

Well that's great! I had gotten the impression that it was a lot stricter TBH. Being able to take the puppy out at 8 weeks is such and advantage.Caryll wrote:
