buzz's biting
I'm new to having a staffy, and not really sure if its a common issue in the breed!
Buzz is 8wks now and when his playing he goes over board with the biting, he is constantly biting, snapping, nipping at us, and attacking our feet, we've brought him loads of goodies to chew but none have made a difference,
i'm now starting to worry that this is not going to stop and he'll get 1 of the children, which means i wont be able to keep him, we dont get in his face and have tried to ignore him and putting him in a naughty spot, but nothing has worked. if anyone has had the same issue i would love to hear about it and how it was stopped
cheers
lisa and buzz

Re: buzz's biting
yea really this is so so normal and trust me they DO grow out of it! Just keep perservering and dont give in. If he bites a firm NO or AH AH and redirect him onto a toy or something he can chew and if he gets to much and hyper time out in a separte room away from u. If does get better trust me ive been there!

Re: buzz's biting
Yes, a firm "NO!" and then turn away. No playing, no contact. If he carries on, leave the room or take him to another room. You only need to leave him for a couple of minutes, but when you return don't fuss him straight away. Let him calm down & then give him gentle praise. I don't think distraction always works, because some pups may think you're rewarding the biting with a toy to play with & so they'll nip to get the toy!
All pups will play bite, some more than others. You have to set the guidelines for what is or isn't acceptable. But you must be consistent. Don't allow a little play biting one day (cause it's funny) but then stop him the next - he won't understand. When all's said & done, he's playing - it's the way he'd have played with his siblings & they'd have yelped or nipped him back if he went too far.

Re: buzz's biting
my advice is as been said before a athoritive no or ah ah if this dont work put them in there noughty place or crate with no toy and no attension after a couple of mins bring them back and give them a toy to chew and keep going on with this and they will soon get the idea what they should and shouldnt be chewing on.
also even the slightest mouthing (nipping) should be tret in the same way.

That's important, because the pup won't be able to tell the difference between a soft 'mouthing' and a hard nip. When they're older they seem to know, but not as pups.

Same as above.
I read somewhere the nipping at the feet especially kids feet as they move quicker is a herding thing. Not sure if it's true. Blue did it to my kids feet when I first got him....told him no like stated above....doesn't do it anymore

Re: buzz's biting
Hi buzz's mummy, you are not alone!! My 8 week old boy is doing exactly the same, in every other way he is doing great but the biting is relentless. As a family we are trying to be consistant with the firm 'NO' and moving him away. Like you i would welcome any other advice. Thanks
