biting
my dorriss (nearly 8 weeks old) had her since monday and she does really nip hard and tug at clothes but she only seems to do it to me not my mum, but my yorkshire terrier was like it when she was a pup. i tell dorris no firmly or clap my hands or make like a yelp noise, but she still carries on the cheeky girl. i blew on her only slight and she stopped. would this be a bad thing to do? i dont want to frighten her.but i also dont want a biting staff. x

Re: biting
I think in this case you just need to be persistent. Pups have short attention spans and can take a while to learn that biting is a no-no.
Generally speaking, dogs don't like it when you blow in their faces. If I were you, I wouldn't use that as a training method, as the dog could snap. An irritable puppy will often nip (even if it's in play) at the closest thing to its face. If your face happens to be the closest thing, you could be in for a shock!
Keep at it, and I'm sure your little one will learn eventually! Good luck!

You could try getting your mum to talk to some people here! Young pups often cry for the first few nights, being away from their littermates and mum. It'll get used to it!

Re: biting
Here is a link that should help. Just make sure everyone does the same thing every time. It takes some time and patience espically when she starts to teeth

Re: biting
It may be worth trying to sit her down and explaining what to expect and talking about what normal behaviour is and the training methods to use. Let her know Dorris is important to you and that you will need her help.

Re: biting
i tried talking to mum and telling her there are plenty on here that have gone through the crying stage but mum just says well shes got health problems and stuff. im the one that does things for the dogs cleans up after them feed them take them out. my dogs mean the world to me. she shouldnt have got dorris if she knew she was not going to keep her. its not fair on dorris for a start. or on me. dorris just started crying i have put radio on so far she is quiet . x
