Billy my 8 month old Staffie.
I bought Billy for my girlfriend birthday and he was advertised as a stocky staff. He was 12 weeks old and the people we bought him off just kind of handed him over and took the cash and that was it. I have phoned them to ask what Billy is crossed with but he has just said he is an irish staff. I have emailed him for photos of the father but he never replyed. Luckly Billy is a lovely dog, he looks lovely and he is my 3 year old sons bestest friend in the world. What ever Billy is and maybe some of you on here might be able to give me a clue, he is a lovely looking dog.

Re: Billy my 8 month old Staffie.
I have found some more photo's of Billy from when we bought him, these are the photos we got to see before we went to pick him up. Maybe some of you would be able to look at Billy's mother and tell what she might be crossed with?

Re: Billy my 8 month old Staffie.
Thanks mate, he is a great dog. I took hime to the beach on the weekend and there was a man there with a staffy. He was black and white and he told me that he was a Irish Staffy and Irish Staffy's are taller than Staffy's. He then asked me about Billy because Billy was taller that his 3 year old Irish Staff. Billy was much thinner but I think that is because of his age. Im sure he will fill out a bit by the time he's 3.

Re: Billy my 8 month old Staffie.
My Moo is very tall and slim, she was a rescue but the vet said she was a "long legged staff" which aparently is actual sort, although the more I have looked into it she does fall under the catorgorie of an "Irish staff" the picture of yours sitting by the radiator looks exactly the same as Moo (different colour obviously), she's about 15 months now and people ask me whether I feed her because she is soo tall and slim x

Re: Billy my 8 month old Staffie.
Yes she is tall i wouldnt of said overfully slim but in proportion if u no what i mean....at a glance u would call her a BIG staff but when u no what she's crossed with it makes sence....not saying that is what ur pups mum is, but just think they look remarkabley similar

Re: Billy my 8 month old Staffie.
Ok I have luckly made contact with Billy's breeders on Facebook. Unfortunatly Billy's mum has dies last April, she had eaten Car wax and was poisend which is very sad. We have been given more pictures of Billy from when he was with them for the first 12 weeks of his life and as you can see from the photos of Billy and his sister in the coats that they wanted to keep Billy. They told me that they were very sad letting Billy go but are so happy he ended up in a good home where he will be loved and Im telling you all he is really loved. Anyway here are the photo's of them all, Billy's mum is the staffy without the pointing ears, the other staffy with the pointed ears is there older staffy. Billy's mum sadly died at 2 years old

Re: Billy my 8 month old Staffie.
I feel so much better now and they are being really helpfull, they have moved back to London now from south wales and have lost contact with the stud. The stud dog was the same coulor as Billy but was much bigger than the mum, the stud dog had papers too. I dont think Billy has boxer in him, what I think it is some dogs look like they might have pit in them, at the end of the day pitbulls and staffy's are so close to each other there has been a lot of staffys with pit in them and pitbulls with staffy in them. Billy has bald bits on the top of his legs and he has bits where he doesnt have the hair he should have, he also has a loose skin under his jaws which to me indicates there is pit in him somwhere down the line. Once he has filled out and I think in the next year or so Billy will look like a differnt dog. At the moment he is lanky and looks crossed but when he is say about 16 month old I think we will start to see a difference in him. He is 10 month old now and I cant see him getting any taller, his front legs are already starting to come apart when he stands because before them front legs were always together when he stood up. Ill keep you all updated on Billy growing up and Ill let you all have an opinion on what you think about him. I quite like it when people give me ideas about what he's crossed with but to people I bought him off wouldnt really need to lie any more about if he is crossed or anything. It's not like I'd send Billy back is it lol.

Re: Billy my 8 month old Staffie.
What a gorgeous boy! Mum's a staff, but maybe dad wasn't?
I agree there looks like there could be a little boxer there somewhere. The term 'Irish Staff' is being used too often. It used be used to describe a certain type of ultra-fit more terrier type staff, but now it seems to be used to explain any dog that doesn't have a pedigree!
Who cares, really? Billy is a stunning dog & the best friend of your little boy as well!

Re: Billy my 8 month old Staffie.
the term Irish staff is just another name for a pittbull. this name came about when the pittbull was banned in England, people that were caught with them said no hes not a pittbull, hes an Irish staffy. these were breeds that looked liked and were taller than the standard size staffy. and are not recognised by any kennel club

Re: Billy my 8 month old Staffie.
I think my neighbour has a pit bull or at least the dog has pitbull in it. The las that owns it says its a staff but as its getting older its getting bigger and its ears are huge like a labradors size also it has a chocolate colour mixed in with the white which ive never seen in a staffy and also has one blue eye. I could be wrong but i have my suspisions this lad has defo got it as a status dog though

Re: Billy my 8 month old Staffie.
Just looking through the pics of the pups and the thing that really struck me was how much the red pups look like boxers! I know the breeder says that they're pure bred staffs, but, well, take another look at the red pups & tell me what you think.

Dunno, a bully x staff will normally have a more staffy head, but I just see boxer in the reds. Maybe it's just me.........

Re: Billy my 8 month old Staffie.
We had a boxer / staffy mix a few years ago. He was an awful lot like billy, just white. I'd hazard a guess and say boxer staff mix too

Do you think there could be boxer in the mother then? As they tell me the stud dog they found was bigger than the mother and was black. He also had papers?

Re: Billy my 8 month old Staffie.
They are pit cross or 3/4 pit.Irish staff and long leg staff are ways to advertise pits without saying they are pits.boxer ddb and ridge back are also mixed into the breed to give them a stockier build wiv longer legs. do you have permission to post all them pic from the breeder facebook?

That's silly.
1. How can you possibly say they are 3/4 pit? Or even pit cross? They don't look anything like one, to me. Just my opinion, of course, but I've seen enough of them to form a reasonable one.
2. If you know where to look/ask, you can get pure bred pitbulls in the UK without advertising them as Irish Staff or Long-Legged staffs. For goodness sake, my old Bandit was a long legged staff & he was from champion stafford stock! Not a pitbull in sight! The pitbull breeders in this country have long waiting lists for puppies.
