Weird lump? Empty Weird lump?

Post by lunathestaffy Tue Oct 13 2020, 09:14

Luna was lying down this morning in bed on her back and I noticed a weird bump on her lady parts. She is just out of her season, not sure if that makes any difference with anything so just worth a mention. It definitely wasn’t there in last two days as it’s quite noticeable when she’s lying down and it would have been noticed.. I’m not sure if it’s just a bite or something or should I take her to the vets? The lump isn’t hard, there seems to be dry skin on it kind of like people get on a big spot. There seems to be like another tiny one beside it and there’s like a little cut or scratch there too? Could it be just from her being in the grass and rubbing off something she shouldn’t have?

Could just be a skin tag or wart, but I'd check with your vet.

I would say to mention it to the vet, even just by phone if possible but just keep a close eye on it. Could be like a spot or an insect bite, probably will go as suddenly as it left. But if it stays, it could also be a polyp that could need minor surgical removal.

I was on the phone to the vet yesterday afternoon, I’ve send them an email with photos for reference the vet will give me a call back this morning and let me know what she thinks but over the phone she said that it’s common for some dogs to get an infected hair follicle after they’re in season due to her cleaning herself so much and there being blood etc, could also be an ingrown hair or just a bite aswell which she said all should go away within a few days. She’ll let me know once she sees the picture today anyway 🙄

Are skin tags and lumps like this common in staffies? I only ever had chihuahuas when I was younger and they didn’t have any lumps anywhere untill one day one started growing a big lump on her head which turned out to be cancer :/ surely at one year old though the chances for cancer and tumours isn’t that high though is it?

It's unlikely to be cancerous, although the vet will need to see it, of course.

Skin tags are very common in all sorts of breeds, but especially short coated ones.

Yeah I’m not quite sure what it was, the whole “bubble” is like deflated and gone now, there’s just dry skin in that shape left over so seems to be gone 🙄

Good news that it’s gone with a minimum of fuss.
