New 8 week old puppy
Hi I'm just wondering if anyone can help me with the new staff pup me and my partner will be collecting on the 9th we have been informed that we should keep him on puppy's milk for 2 more weeks after we collect him. We was wondering if that's correct plus were just asking for general help as we're going to be new puppy's owners

Re: New 8 week old puppy
Hello, welcome and congratulations on your new family member.
They generally say to keep pup on same feeding routine for the first couple of weeks to limit upset tummy during this time full of changes.
Personally neither of my girls were having puppy milk when I acquired them (8 weeks for Nifty, 9 weeks for Opium) so I can’t really say.
If it were me, I would reduce the amount given over the couple of weeks to stop altogether. In my opinion, weaned puppies should already be drinking water at that stage.
What is your puppy eating aside the puppy milk ?
Puppy’s name too, please

She's going to be called diva we havnt got her yet we collect her on the 9th we have already done our research on her. She's eating harringtons dry dog food for puppies soaked in warm water to soften it with wet food mixed for extra taste.

Oh, Harringtons is only scoring 50% here

Is this what the breeder has given you in terms of explanation?
I’m just surprised that a puppy needs puppy kibble to be softened and if you need to add anything for extra taste, maybe there’s a problem with the kibble used in the first place ?
Sorry but sounds like a very strange diet for a weaned puppy ...
Maybe instead of paying for kibble and milk and wet additives, you could put the budget towards a better quality kibble - all in one solution

Re: New 8 week old puppy
Hi & welcome.
Your pup does NOT need puppy milk. They stop needing milk from about 5 or 6 weeks & the breeder is either inexperienced or poor. Sorry.
As Nifty says, try and find a better puppy kibble & change over gradually - at least 14 days.
