Advice needed please much appreciated (pigeon chest)
Hi all I am new to the website hopefully you can all help all advice would be grateful!
Right breeder noticed a lump on puppy’s rib cage at 8 weeks old and got him checked by vet upon first injections the first vet signed him off as ok!
I requested he get a second opinion just to be sure and so he took him to the second vet who would not sign him off because he has a slight heart murmur. The breeder sent me this information after second opinion...(((Hiya pal , sorry to inform you its not great news , second vet unhappy to sign the chap off , his sternum as an inward path , this could be affecting the heart beat , he has to continue development to 12 wks then he can be reassesed, it could clear or it could not to be bluntly honest , its a very rare condition . I will not be able to release him as things stand , i do apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused but it could not be forseen and as i created him so to speak i am responsible .)))
The reassessment is now due next week and I’m getting nervous about results the breeder has text me today saying he thinks it is pigeon chest ? I have no idea what this is can anyone confirm by looking at pictures of him and if so what can be done to make sure he is healthy and happy life when I pick him up ?
Thanks again

Re: Advice needed please much appreciated (pigeon chest)
If the pup is showing no other symptoms, I doubt it pigeon chest...

However, there certainly shouldn't be a lump like that & I would personally ask for an xray or scan to show what's going on.

Ok thank you! And thanks for the link. I haven’t picked him up yet just unsure what it could be, I’m open to any suggestions I have seen the lump in other breeds after research online such as French bulldogs but nothing online I can find about staffy a!

I must admit I've never heard of it in staffords & the photos you showed don't look the same as others I've seen.
It's a weird one, but I don't think just a cursory 'look' will give an answer. What does the breeder say? Has this happened to them before?
At least the breeder is being open with you.

Re: Advice needed please much appreciated (pigeon chest)
Neither have I which is why it’s worrying although on the other hand could be positive and mean it’s harmless I suppose! (He hopes) the breeder has not had it in any previous litters so he is also a bit stumped with it all. Yeah the breeder is being totally open about it in all fairness, he could of not said anything and not bother for the second opinion. But he did and the puppy is going for reassessment Tuesday so fingers crossed is nothing to worry about!

Re: Advice needed please much appreciated (pigeon chest)
He grew into it almost non existent and has caused him no issues with life or medical eats like its going out of fashion and wants to constantly play and learn so my answer is he will be finenif it’s the same take him to a vet if he clears him get him insured straight away as soon as vet clears him then no worries then!
