Started weeing in the house again
Hi everyone,
As the title suggests hank has started weeing in the house again.. we are totally baffled by this as he was house trained quite quickly and have had no accidents whatsoever apart from poops we suspect were danger poops as we like to call them but zero wee’s since he was a pup and he’s coming up 2 in Jan. no changes have been made to his food or routine, his behaviour has changed abit too, he’s not listening to us as much as he used too and has a massive issue with labradors but never had an altercation with one just hates them out of the blue.

Re: Started weeing in the house again
I take it he's healthy, no aches/pains/strains etc?
If he is, then it's because he's all grown up! Now he's fully mature, he'll try to 'push his luck' a bit.
But don't worry, it isn't a problem & his temperament & character are still the same. All you need to do is keep your patience & go back to basics. He's scent marking the house, which is obviously unacceptable, and you'll need to be firm when you see him sniffing, or going to cock his leg etc. A firm "No!" (not shouted), and then lead him to the garden, as you would have done as a pup. Make sure you clean up with a non-ammonia cleaner (I always used biological washing liquid, diluted quite a lot) son that he doesn't associate the area with his peeing post!
Outside, if you see a Labrador (I take it he's still fine with other dogs?), use the "watch" command and show him a treat - keep the treat in his sight until the other dog has gone past & then praise/treat.
Hopefully it's just a phase & with a few basic reminders, he'll get through it!

Re: Started weeing in the house again
No aches or pains, still carrying on like he normally is and eating and drinking fine. Yeah we suspected he was trying to test us we haven't had anymore wee's but over the weekend he poo's twice in the house right in front of us with no warning just squatted down, usually he will pace between the kitchen and living room until we notice he wants out but not these times!
Yeah he is fine with over dogs, he does a little growl at some dogs if they are growling at him first but Labradors is instant hate. We have tried the watch me command and any other command when there is any dog but he doesn't look at us, it's like his ears switch off because he will not budge, not for a treat or a squeak of one of his toys he is just fixated on the other dogs until they are out if sight, I want to get him to stop doing it as often people think he's fixated on their dog in a negative way when he's just nosey haha.

Re: Started weeing in the house again
You need to work out his distance - that point when the ears come forward & he starts to focus - & try distracting before he reacts. Then gradually decrease the distance.
Maybe Liz will have a few more points of advice!

Re: Started weeing in the house again
Hi,
We found with our staffie that if we reacted to him he would do it more so we went down the route of ignoring him and then he stopped. For him it seemed to be an attention thing. Any attention is good attention to a dog.
