best pet insurance cover
trying to decide what pet insurance company to go with this time....I will not be using animal friends as after paying them for 8 years with no claims the one time I did need to make a claim they wormed out of it and we got no help what so ever...
so looking for recommendations from people who have actually had to use there insurance and how happy they were with the serves and pay out they got, and what level of cover did you get and how much a month do you pay?
I would really appreciate any feed back with this as I have been really put off insurance at the moment, but I know I cant not have any cover at all so help really needed

Re: best pet insurance cover
Same here, the policies are over complicated.
Glad i just read your post though, i just did a comparison on Compare the Market and Animal Friends are the cheapest
they break the insurance down into 4 category's
Cheapest Accident Only, Cheapest Time Limited, Cheapest Max Benefit and Cheapest Lifetime
so confusing, obviously i want to make sure my dog is covered but at the same time dont want to pay over the top for something i dont need.
After all... we could be paying this for the next 17 years!
I was recommended Pet Plan but their quote is £17 a month... is that a normal price to pay?

I've just had Katy's renewal through, gone up £130 on last years!! I've never made a claim I'm just going to put money aside each month in another account for her vets bills

Re: best pet insurance cover
If I was to change to a different insurer, although I have never claimed for Katy she twisted her knee last year & although she didn't have any treatment on it the vet has made a note of it in her records. So if I had to make a claim on her injuring her leg it wouldn't be covered!!!! So I really don't see any point insuring her again.

Re: best pet insurance cover
We now self insure - we put the money to one side so that it is there if we need it.
We were with MoreThan. They were, in fairness, very good about paying out and we did very well with them until the premiums started going up, and up, and up... I think it was when Nola hit 9, they were asking for close on £2,000 a year for the 3 of them .
I think you do need 3rd party, so we have that through Dogs Trust membership, and basic accident insurance at something like £4 a month per dog with Animal Friends.
