Unpickable poops in public
We have recently changed Hank’s food to a big boy raw mix instead of the puppy mix and opted for all beef instead of chicken and beef due to reading a few things about raw chicken so decided to take it out, obviously his poops have been very runny (& Black but I’m assuming that’s the beef) for about a week now with the odd normal one.. today he had a spell of the runs and how I did attempt to pick it up I couldn’t and some woman came up to me and said “ I don’t have a dog but if I did I’d atleast pick up after it” obviously I did try and the main thing that stuck out for me was that she didn’t have a dog so I’d like to see her try and attempt to get it all in the bag.
Anyway.. Just wondering what you guys do, is attempting and not getting it all atleast better than leaving it or should I have dug the grass up he had went on :/

Forget the stupid woman's comments. She's an idiot!
You might find it useful to use something called Protexin. It helps with the transition from one food to another. www.protexin.com
Basically, it helps the stomach to cope with changed diet if you can't change over gradually.
Be careful, though. Both chicken and beef are linked to protein intolerance!

Re: Unpickable poops in public
I think I would have asked the woman to show me how to pick up the poo, seeing as her standards weren’t met
I would think that it depends where the poo is. If easily treadable, then yeah, I’d probably get the grass too but if well out of walking area, the gesture of getting what you can would suffice.

Re: Unpickable poops in public
There is a lot of people that don’t pick up in my area and it’s getting worse.. there’s been times I’ve went to pick up Hank’s and both me and hank have trod in another dogs poop which is so infuriating so the fact I do it all the time and this once I couldn’t get it all really made me mad.. especially the fact she said she didn’t have a dog!!

I'd carry on with the beef if you can get the Protexin. If not, then lamb or venison. Be aware, though, that beef can make some dogs a bit hyper!

I think all you can do is clear up as best you can, you'll not get all of it but at least you can say you tried

Re: Unpickable poops in public
Some poops just can not be picked up unless you have a proper scoop and a blood power hose. Just how it is.
But you may want to look at the raw diet you give, cause its not all just about one type of meat. They need so many various nutrients and what not that one particular meat just can not give. And you cant just give meat either, dogs have been bred over 100000s of years to eat meat predominantly, but also other stuff. Think about the wild counterparts..they wont just eat meat..they will eat basically anything going. A raw diet is extremely complex so you really need to get it right and it will include loads of different meats/offals/veggies/carbs etc.
There is or was a really good raw thread on here from a raw expert....but it may have been deleted when she was...

Actually, a dog can be incredibly healthy on the Prey Model diet - 80% meat, 10% bone, 10% offal - and don't need veg/fruit if it's done properly. But it isn't for the faint hearted, and can take a lot of planning to get it right. It isn't complicated, but you do need to research properly.

Re: Unpickable poops in public
is prey model diet where you have big chunks of meat and heads, feet etc? As I don't think he would eat those because he wont touch chunks of meat has to be smaller, because I did want to change him over to that when he turned one so got some chunks of meat from the supermarket and he just threw them around the chicken

Prey Model just means 80% meat, 10% bone & 10% offal (with at least 50% of the offal being liver). You don't have to give whole prey. You're supposed to give meaty bones so that the meat can be torn from the bone, cleaning the teeth. No fruit, no veg.
BARF is meat, bones, fruit & veg with the fruit & veg being steamed or pulped.
That's the 'bare bones' of it (excuse the pun!).
