Insurance for pre-existing conditions exists!
Hi All
Thought I'd share this with you all. Ralph's been insured with Argos for 4 years and had a floating patella and tplo when he was 2, amounting to claims around £8000. Argos paid out and have raised the premium yearly. This year it hit £65 per month. So time to search around. I was concerned about moving as the pre-existing conditions rears its head but lo and behold by chance I came across boughtbymany.com who offer pre-existing conditions insurance and are keen to battle with the insurance companies. So bit the bullet and have tried it. Premium now down to £43 a month, quite a saving and all for the same cover. Haven't had to claim and hopefully won't but the savings certainly come in handy.

I had a quick look at them the other day - isn't there a requirement that the dog must be symptom free of that pre-existing condition for a couple of years for them to cover it? That's what I'd understood but great news if it's not!

Apologies yes they have to not have had a claim for two years but that is more reasonable than having to put up with sky high premiums if you have to stay with your original provider or move to one that will not cover the claimed condition. Just felt it was so worth saving £20 a month which then goes on toys, treats, etc for Ralph and I don't feel that I'm being 'had'. It is good news that some insurers are aware of these issues and acting, albeit slowly.
