Staffie meesurements
Ive joined a staffie group on facebook and have seen a massive increase in people saying there dog has been seized by the police because of looking like a pitbull i read a comment saying that if the dog is a pitbull his legs would be a similar messurments to their back so the dog would be as tall as he is long so was wondering how long and tall other peoples staffies are what would be classed as a simillar ratio

Re: Staffie meesurements
Pit bulls are quiet a bit bigger than our average Stafford but American Staffords are often called Pits because they are either one and the same or the same generic size. Pits tend to be leaner in my experience, however, others will disagree.
Those that are classed as "Type" here in the UK are generally Staffy crosses. That being said, the Authorities have been known to class some dogs as type based on some very flimsy measurements, there are others on the forum with more detail about that.
I can't really help as my Flo is one of those rare and highly prized short legged Staffies

Re: Staffie meesurements
People have been breeding large staffies for ages now cause they want them to look more pit. It seems that lately, very few staffs are "staff" size. They SHOULD be under 16" (smaller for females) but only show dogs seem to meet this lately. 90% of staff owners dont give a hoot for breed standrads, and its to the detriment of the breed.

As an aside, please point your FB friends in the direction of the DDA Watch group. If a dog is seized, the can be life savers, literally. They also have great advice on what to do if the police do want to seize a dog. Never, ever sign anything unless you've had legal advice, do not let the police in your home without a warrant, etc.
