Hair loss around ears!!!
Have a 9 week old blue staffy, he is bred from two blue staffs but he has a bit of brindle through him, my vet told me it was common in Staffys so I didn't think anything about it untill I looked into it more and found out about CDA as a first time staffy and dog owner I didn't know that breeding two blues is bad or I wouldn't have bought him. How do they check for CDA? Will it get worse as he gets older? And will it definitely be that?

Re: Hair loss around ears!!!
Your vet is correct that it is common with Staffies bred from two blues unfortunately, simply bad breeders
I don't know too much about it myself but I think there are degrees of severity, you're boy might be lucky and not suffer too much from it. I'm not sure how they test for it but there is quiet a lot of info on this forum if you do a search.
I know there are people here that may be able to give you more helpful info.

Re: Hair loss around ears!!!
It could be more common in Staffies in general but certainly is a Blue/Blue issue. Having said that, my girl has very thin hair in places and is a scratchy girl so maybe the vet is correct.

the conditions treatable well worth doing it is common in staffs but theres usually mites , mange or another condition that is treatable with medication they will give u medication but not over a long period of time you will notice the difference in the areas with less hair.

Re: Hair loss around ears!!!
If it is localised to the ears, my suggestion is that the pup may be cold at night. My girl, must against my wishes (but i lived at my parents) was outside living, so in winter her ears would go bald. She had a coat on and blankets galore, but ears were are the first extremity to feel the cold. It was more the tips though and not much around the base like yours, so it could be CDA.
